I was wondering about this too. There is a setup.ini file in the DB folder (I have DBLite), and in it there are comments that say if you set "window=1" it will make DB run in a window. DBLite (v1.11) *does* have the SET WINDOW ON command and it works in-game, but DB doesn't want to start up in a window.

Is there a solution that will make DB or DBLite run windowed all the time?

Thanks,

Ed

I think this is what you are talking about: http://www.darkbasic.com/c.php?f=about2

Quote: "What is DarkBASIC's main editor like?

In the current version of DarkBASIC we have a low-resolution program editor. Lots of people like it because it's not based in a Windows environment and allows fast development swapping between your program and your game. However there are just as many people who don't like it because it's not a typical Windows application. The solution is to use one of the free third party DarkBASIC editors Dark Edit or Code Keeper."

So I believe Dark Edit and/or Code Keeper is what you are looking for, as they are code editors for DarkBASIC which are much more consistent with standard Windows, and I presume that includes running in windowed mode.

In the setup.ini file there should be a section called
[SETTINGS](if not, just add it)

add/change the following line
windowmode=1

Now DB will start in windowed mode. However, there'll be a black flash on the screen for a a few milliseconds, but no resolution changes.

If you want (can) distribute your apps or games, you need to place the setup.ini file in the executable's folder.

Ogres have layers.
