Well, I'm not buying until you show us ingame shots. Looks more like you took a trip to the mountains and decided to get some easy money.

Well, the textures can easily change to suite fpsc, but I have tried them on other engines and they work excellently

@evilstick:they do look real, THATS WHY THEY ARE NICE!!!

@rastaman: i dont know, i dont have time to put it in fpsc, ill do it over break. the textures can be easily changed in almost any modeler. I use lightwave, but I will be giving the files out as a .3ds and .x. This is just to see how many people are intrested before I put it on the market

Exactly, they look too real. Too real to be 3DGFX.

I (and everyone else) will not buy until we see shots or a demo.

I used a combination of programs, terragen does not allow u export a lot of stuff, but I used terragen for the raw files, and I modeled it in lightwave. Textures were done by a friend.

I am just here to see how many people are intrested, if not a lot of people are, I'll just blow the whole thing off.

Not swallowing it.

Those terrains look familiar, like I've seen them before, about 2 years ago.

Proove me wrong.

Am I the only one reading anetstudios.com in the files?

I'm pretty sure I know everything. Doubts are something rare in me and I am never wrong, as this signature can prove.

Nope, they're actually linked to anetstudios.com - it's got dodgy written all over it, unless Alex comes back with some proof for us I'm gonna lock this thread and see what other action is required.

Just noticed the webmaster of Anet Studios is a game named Alex. Although there are a lot of guys (and gals) called Alex, I think maybe they are the same.

It's a good use of Terragen, (note you can add some foam to your water), but I don't get how you can use that in FPSC.

When you claim someone elses work as your own - I thought Alex had found those and decided to post them up as his own work, but he hasn't.

Terragen definitely. Not even quite original, but out of the box very familiar terragen stuff. Rendered in Lightwave perhaps, but my Terragen renders look about the same.

As for your strategy.... before you make everyone happy, try at least one of the terrains in FPSC. You may encounter many problems doing so. until now nobody has really succesfully imported good looking terrains into FPSC.

Good luck.

Looks at Ben A...
Anyone can prove you wrong. If they have the brains. But most people want to have COOL games that no one else has.

P.S. Turn them into a MultiMesh segment!!!

Reason: FPSC is made to slow it self down on purpose, if a peice is not multimesh then FPSC tries to load it and everything beyond it.

Anetstudios.com is my website, and yes I did use terragen for some components. Sorry if anyone thought I stole them, you every right to be suspicious. Umm at the moment, I am trying to get the textures into fpsc, however the model itself is working perfectly and I have gotten it as a direct x model. Updates comming soon.

Are you sure the engine can handle that many polys? Especially since people's games start to slow down just by looking at a wall that has more hidden polys.

They are really awesome, but I'm not interested.
I would rather use a skyscape and save my polys for other things.

They look excellent though.
Keep up the good work.

There is usually a poly cap in a game. Meaning there is a limit on how many characters, items, buildings, weapons, etc. Sacrificing a large portion of that limit to the landscaping (unless that is a major part of the level) is not feasible, unless its a one-on-one match.

Just trying to help.

Well, I meant this to be for single player, but I understand everything ur saying keith. I think I am going to lower the polys and see how smoth it runs on fpsc.

I hope you keep the high poly ones for other venues.
Really, these are definitely commercial game worthy and should fetch a decent price or even a job.
I mean, some large gaming company might like your work and want you to create these for their games.
If you have your own company, then it should be very successful if its not already.
These are as nice as any I have seen.
They look real.

You do know that it's quite easy to make those types of environments in Terregen? Although I prefer Eon's Vue. I'm not trying to put down someone's work, but the real show of talent in this case is if he can get it to work in-game. Not only would I be impressed, but I'm sure Alex could make a bit of cash as well.

I am confused though.

At the website I found it said:
Quote: "
Terragen is free for personal non-commercial use"

is that right?

Edit
Is this the right site?

It is good for commercial use if you pay for it, I believe it was around $100. They are coming out with a 2nd version too.

This looks like what NASA used for The Moon shots back in the late 60's.

lol

Na, but you could do Jupiter or anything else right, not just Earth.
I think it would be better for stills or backgrounds for cutscenes or something.

A little pricey though, but I like it.
Its way down on my wish list though.

This is what you need to do Skyscapes. (Skyboxes, whatever)
I think this would be great if you used the stills from your model to make the skyscapes.
Then the high polys wouldn't matter, and it would retain its great looks.

forget that... keith how can he hack the engine to allow more polys and make them smooth.. if we have to sacrifice qaulity "realism" lets take a second look at making the engine run more polys and run them GOOD...
