FPSC Classic Models and Media / Importing HUGE terrain - wont scale

Hi. I'm trying to import a large scale terrain into FPSC. It actually imports and displays nicely. Problem is that it remains very small. I have scaled both the x/y in the .fpe from 1 to 500, and it wont become any larger.

Can anyone help please? File is attached.

Hey man,

What program you using for the 3D work?

In 3DSM - you make the terrain - check the scale against a good entity (i.e. a character - Thug always works nicely ) and check the scale there.

Then when you export it - you should be laughing all the way to the publishers

I dont know how to do it in any other programs.

you scaled the x and y in the .FPE? Have you tried adding the
"scale = X" command?

Hmm.. good idea Mabuggi, I shall import FPSC character into the program to see size scale. Thanks.

Sunflash, yes the FPE is attached for download in first post. I scaled both the X and Y from 1 to 500 and nothing happens.

use that as the fpe file... doesnt take up the WHOLE map, but it takes yp a decent amout...
hate to brake it to ya, but fps considers it to be a giant cube... youll see

I know, I used the "scale = X" command and got it to resize fine.
instead of typing "scaley = 500" or "scalex = 500" try, "scale = 15000".

When FPSC develops enough, lets make a Redwall game!

No problem at all buddy -

Just learning all this myself - only had FPSC a week! Got so much to do!

How you getting on?

We managed to scale it quite nicely - you could walk all over the mountains etc, the bumpy ground worked fine - but enemies tend to fall straight through the terrain.....
Any luck?

Thanks guys! Really appreciate it.

Now I have another issue regarding scaling. Since the game world is only 100x100 (x100) - the player scale seems very BIG and the islands appear dollhouse-small. Is there a way to make the player camera perspective and jumps appear tiny?

Should I make a tiny tiny player model and use that instead? Thanks.

well, if you did that, then you would need to make EVERYTHING smaller. That wouldn't be much fun.

I think this is something you'd have to alter in the source code.

I'm not sure it would work then, either, as it might adversely affect physics, collision and lightmapping.

You could always call your game: "Island of the the OOmpa-Loompas" or "Attack of the Lollipop Kids" or "Gulliver's Last Travels"
