Is there a way to cast shadows/raytrace in Darkbasic pro. I am looking for a package that will allow this simply and easily.

|Thanks for the pointers! Can I please see some code which would let me experiment with shadow casting / raytracing. I am a little wary of the term "shadow effects" in the demo. It might mean that the shadow behindthe ring is a merged bitmap. Or that the image too one munute to render.
I am creating rooms with pillars and moving characters and all these need shadows some fixed a few moving. I use Blitz£D at the moment, but it is way too complex for me to program shadows with a program that was never meant to.

Straint from the help file:

SET SHADOW SHADING ON
This command will set the specified object to cast a hardware shadow. This command requires hardware
specifically designed for this feature, as it's a very intensive calculation. Use this command sparingly for
best performance.

SYNTAX
SET SHADOW SHADING ON Object Number

If your hardware supports it - it's just one command away.

You could use pre-calculated lightmaps for this, lightmaps are VERY fast, and work on most comps. However, the problem is pre-calculating them, Quake/Halflife style.
