Ok,
I have the DarkBasic $49.00 version. It is v1.08 and I think that is the latest version. Does this have internet capabilities, or in other words multiplayer.
When it loads it does say something about loading some kind of enhancements.

I thought the reason of the enhancement disc was for the people who had bought DarkBasic before multiplayer function.

So do I have memblock and multiplayer functions or is DarkBasic trying to, I hate to say this, but scam me into paying another 20 bucks for the enhancement disc.

Please let me know because I am having real difficulties in getting any multiplayer stuff to work.

Someone who would know, whether it be an administrator or regular user, please post here.

So I do have it. I guess thats a relief.

Now how come I can't get any of it to work properly.

Can someone make me an online thing that I can learn off of.
One that does something and one thats kind of simple.

It would mean a lot to me.

I was confused about that too... there are multiplayer commands in all versions of DB. The difference is that with the DB Enhancement Pack, you get a bunch of extra multiplayer commands (most relating to sending and receiving MEMBLOCK stuff).

The confusing part is that ALL the commands seem to be documented the same no matter what version of DB you have... which means, for me at least, with DBLite, commands are listed that don't actually work in DBLite. A little aggravating, but DB is great, so no sense in complaining. Maybe I should edit the doc files and put in something like
"Works in DBLite, DB, DB Enhanced, DBPro" for each command? Ugh.

Also, make sure you download and install the V1.13 upgrade patch (see empty's link above) so that you have the latest version.

That's true.
I have DB Enhanced and can't tell which commands don't work without the enhancement pack. So it's difficult to provide any help on subjects like this.

Ogres have layers.

oki... really need to set this straight
DarkBasic 1.06+ has FTP commands
DarkBasic 1.10 has DirectPlay (for multiplayer games) commands

however ... to continue using the DirectPlay commands after the 30day Enhancements Trial you must purchase the DarkMatter w/Dark Basic Enhancements pack ... or the Enhancements Pack direct.

As DarkMatter is $19.99 from Amazon.com and Enhancement Pack is also $19.99 from DBS - mightas well purchase DarkMatter and get the extra models and textures

Now you can upgrade Dark Basic Lite upto 1.09.2 (as it is recognised as the demo version) ... but Dark Basic CD can be upgraded to 1.13 (which is the latest patch)

none of the patches require a previous one to run, however if you use Dark Edit (1.49 supplied on CD) and upgrade to 1.10 or better you must goto Dark Edit's Site and download 1.56 for it to work with the Enhancements

as for learning the commands, i'd suggest you learn Memblocks and how they're used ... then get into connecting using multiplayer commands, and finally using them
learning in that order means you're not learning several things at once and you can concentrate properly at the tasks in hand. Checkout the EXAMPLES within the help file
