I hope this hasnt been asked before, well a couple of things.

Im using an old version of max 3.1

And my problem is,
1. when i biped my character and added physique to it, that was fine. I animated it and exported it to 3ds for dbpro.
That was also fine, but the character walks off from his co-ords and well follows his path. How do i get the char to stay put and just animate?
and
2. when i do load it as .3ds in dbpro, it seems only the verts are moving or something(maybe the bones) and the model doesnt actually animate(but moves). I tryed the panda .x exporter but it doesnt do animation for this version of max i think.

Anyway, all help would be hugely appreciated.

I had the same problem applying animations in max7, so what I did was do all the animation stuff, then open up the track view for the model, and delete the xyz keyframes for the root bone (bip01). Since all the other limbs just change their rotation (usually), the model will still be animated but not move.

.3DS does'nt support boned animation, what you effectively have is a limb hierarchy animation instead. If you can't get panda exporter working then I'd say you'd be better off with CharacterFX (around $15) or something like that - which is a lot easier to use and can make perfect .X models for DBPro.
