What kind of animation in 3dstudio max works when exported to 3ds and loaded into dark basic classic ? (my vacation is almost over , i want to make some animated characters , like something like SONIC , i want to make a game like sonic dx cut (3d third person sonic game)).

So , what kind of animation should i use ?

DBP supports bones, so create a char, give it some bones and keyframe it. Don't ask me how, I'm on the theory side here, sorry.

I'm pretty sure I know everything. Doubts are something rare in me and I am never wrong, as this signature can prove.

You are ready to go then, even with classic. Check this:

http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/?m=faq_view&i=40ffc9aa55f200.59589552

So, if you can have animated DirectX models, you can certainly have bone + keyframe work. Make it in 3DS Max, export it to Direct X and you are ready to go.

There's a DBConv.exe that can handle the export case you don't have the plugin to do it.

Good luck.

I've never tried vertex animation files with DBC. It does use hierarchical (or jointed) files. These are pretty much what 3ds files are like.
Lets say you want to create a character. In max you would create all the moving parts as seperate objects, ie.Palm,LowerArm,LowerLeg,Head, Torso, Pelvis, etc. You then link the objects together creating a parent->child hierarchy. (if you dont know this tool, search in max user reference for "linking"). You then animate and keyframe the character and export to 3ds.
I never really used DBC, just tried the demo but apparently dicussed on one of the forums here, you can manually animate you object, assign keyframes and save your new animated object within DBC.

*Note: If you have used a non-uniform scale and/or adjusted the pivot points on any of the ojbects. Apply a reset xform before linking.

Ok ..

thank`s very much..

and just so you know i`m making a kind of SIMPLE BASIC , and it`s engine is made in dbclassic and it will have load model and load animation , play animation.... And those will work the same as in db , so it can serve good for someone , if he doesn`t have db , and want`s to test his models for compatibility
