Here is a quick way to create textures in paint shop pro 9
Ok 1st we create a blank image so click on new image icon and size it 256*256 pixels
We will have a white background then click Ok..

Next click on effects menu then texture effects then textures...
You should have a screen similar to the screenshot, I chose concrete for this example by clicking the arrow that I have circled, I then chose another colour by clicking on the colour square I have circled! Clicking on the proof icon under the previewed texture that looks like a human eye, will put your results in the new image real time! Which is pretty handy.. Right so we have a concrete type look, you can mess around with the params underneath to get a different look, best way is to click on the random icon(dice icon under the preview) to appreciate these parameters!) but I am happy with this so I click ok.. Next I am gunna use this created image to get all crazy!!

Ok now for a neat trick, with your new image selected goto effects/texture effects again but this time choose tiles, choose something like hexagon from tyle shape and look at amazement at your new texture!! It should look like something similar to screenshot... of course you can also clcik on random icon(the dice) again for some crazy effects... mess about with both parts of this tutorial, there are other presets of course apart from concrete in the texture part also in the tiles part..different effects..play around and have fun!
