Hi this is my 30 min model, i use animor for modeling, lithunwrap for uvmap and Xara X1 for make graphics... is still low poly..

i think you should cover more advanced uv mapping methods, as decal mapping from the one side can only be so good, if you need to skin anything like a car/tank it will be rather useless.

For the design use my head, nonuse bluprints, I do not like).

to make graphical the use simply the XARA X1 (www.xara.com) or the PAINT.

For the UV-MAPP in the example I use the DECAL, in the same LIT-UNWRAP I separate each part to be able to make the textures.
