I need a modeling program that can import either Vertex (.vtx) or a C Source File (.c) and can export to .3ds or .x, because when exporting .3ds files in Anim8or, the texture doesn't go with it , so I need a program that can export to .3ds or to .x and can export the texture with it (run-on-sentence ). That way I can make the models in Anim8or (because I'm used to it), export in .c or .vtx in Anim8or, load it in another program, and then export in .x or .3ds in the other program. Thanks.

Oh! I might be able to help. When i used anim8or and wanted to put it into games, I'd export it to .obj (wavefront) and then import into milkshape. Then I'd texture in milkshape (of course the textures were never too good...) and then export to .x

I hope that helps

or just texture the object in DB directly. the 3ds file format will keep the UVs, so you can just do it manually.

altho, if you need the .x file, that's not much help

I don't have a sig, live with it.

@Manic: But What if I have only one limb and want to textre different parts of it? And besides, I hate doing it by code.

@The crazy: Thanks, but the trial for Milkshape ran out.

I dont use Anim8tor, but I was curious. I downloaded 0.9c and gave it a try.

The 3ds file that it exports does in fact contain the texture reference and uv's. It looks like there may be a bug on export which sets the materials diffuse value to 0. Hence no visible texture. You might want to mention it on their forum.

Use the "texture limb" command maybe?

cough...

Like I said, the diffuse material value is set to 0. Nothing else wrong with the 3ds. Download the microsoft 3dsconv tools (someone uploaded this somewhere here once, otherwise anim8tor site under resources). Use it to convert your .3ds file to .x . This will fix the material value on the x file.
