are skeletal animations possible? would you have to label each joint before putting it into db?

dark basic classic does not allow skeletal animations (deforming a skin with bones). You have to create a segmented body with limbs and a hierarchy etc. and animate it. If you want to deform skins with bones, you need dbpro.

Milkshape works, but Anim8or only works with 2D games.

UUh, Sven B's animator works realyl well, its just really buggy. Though it's open source, so you could fix it up if you wanted to.

Oh, and Milkshape 3d is really good, or wings 3d is just as good if not better.

Is this the program that turns Anim8or skeletons into individual frames? I tried it, and it worked OK, but surely all those frames, and textures would use up all of your memory really quickly.

No, it works nearly the same as bones in the model, just you have to use the file it produces instead of it being inside the model itself, which works if you're making a game like grand theft auto where you can use the same animation on several people.

Yah, it's the only program I use to animate.

Huh? Oh it is an animation program, not really using Anim8or files, just using individual limbs. I will keep a copy for a later date. It sounds interesting.

There is in fact a program that turns Anim8or's boned animations into individual frames, and so you don't have limbs anymore, you have nicely welded joints, but a lot of models. Like I said earlier, it probably uses up too much memory.

There was a very old animation program made in DB Classic, but it tended to feg up.

It's a program created for DBC-users to animate their models. It might not be the best program for animating compared to milkshape or any other modeler. But it's a good alternative for basic animation without having to spend money.

It exports DBC's own format for animation.
