I recently picked up XIII and, mid-game, I noticed that it looks as if very human and weapon model had another version of the same model around it, only a little bigger, coloured black and all the faces looking inward to acheive an outline effect, Is this the only way or is there an easier, more efficient way?

That would be 'cel-shading' or 'cartoon shading'. You can get that effect by (as you say) reversing the normals of a copy of the model in black, or you can use shaders to get a better version of the same effect. If you have DBPro, it has 'cartoon shading' built in.

Actually, I think cel shading is just the way the faces are shaded (Note how killer7 has the shading but lacks the outlines), I'm mainly looking at the outlines.
I've tried what DBPro has... It's very limited, and although someone suggested fiddling with the file that deals with that a year ago, I can't be bothered to go that far into it. No outlines either.
So, other than what I mentioned before, are those the only ways?

There's a teqnique in Milkshape 3d you can use. If you use Milkshape 3d, I'll post the method.

WindowsXP Professional, Pentium 4 DualCore 2.8GHz CPU, 1gb DDR2 RAM, GeForce 7800GTX, SoundBlaster X-Fi (7.1)

I hate the method of cartoon rendering I'm using... It looks cool, but I've doubled the number of polys on my models by doing this and now it's over 3000 polys!

@Megaton Cat

Forgiven. As for the "Stuck in the UK", It's from a song by Planet Funk.

@Snipa Master:
Sorry, I use Wings3D at the moment.
