Notepad. DirectX files are text files, so... it's dificult I agree but it's free, it's included in every MS OS, it's quite fast also. If fails with the previews I agree and the internal render is awful.



I'm pretty sure I know everything. Doubts are something rare in me and I am never wrong, as this signature can prove.

Well, I like to use Silo from Nevercenter. Pretty easy program and they keep updating. Costs 109 dollars now and the updated (very much so) version will cost around 130 dollars.

The only flaw with it and FPSCreator is that it does not export into .x format...

Can model, character rig, animate, light, make sequences and render.
I can't export as .X but can as .3ds, .C, .obj, .vtx and, ofcourse .an8
And it's free...
