yo..

I was not going to bother releasing this because its way to much like Cshop , but what the hell. I did not intend to coppy cshop when I first started, I started off more on the lines of unreal-ed but that got to overly complex. so I stated to copy worldcraft(valve hammer now) and then it turnd in to a mini cshop clone. Im very very restricted to what dbc can do, so its no where nere as good tbh..

Its a basic world editing tool made in darkbasic classic for creation of simple maps , it was originally going to be a personal tool way back(like 2 years ago) and decided to finish it real quick. I wanted to finish it so i can start work on the next version asap in dbp, so iv cut it very short in the features department.

Im still not sure whether to sell it or give it away, its not bad but its not great. I still need a good name for this old project.

iam working (now worked) on a editor like hammer too.
Here are some textures you can use.
(maybe you have to covert it to png)

This is great - make it free and this will be a fantastic alternative to Cshop for people that are dead-broke.

Any planned lightmapping features?

Thx for all the comments,
I now need some feedback . the bigest problem atm is the fps db has caped it at 60. does any one know away around this? . iv added a new .exe ( attached to this post) just download and overight the existing folder. iv changed few things around and fixed a few bugs , there should be a fps counter in the top right corner I need to know the fps you lot are getting and your pc specs. if u get 60 try opening Windows Media Player for some reason it gets rid of the caped 60fps(well it dose for me).

my pc specs:
2gig ram
ICQ II Rad x800xt
P4 3.0 ghz
min fps(bunker.lvl)=188

@zzz
collision for DBC will most likely be useing Sparkys dll(im using it for my pick object function). and for DBP newton or the new ODE commands in 5.9.

@Jack
those textures are great.

-
if I do sell it, it wont cost to much something like £8.00 or even less.

That's computer-specific. As long as you're using 'sync rate 0' somewhere, it'll run at the maximum speed it can (as long as it's windowed). If it's fullscreen, then VSync will be activated and it'll be synchronized to your monitor refresh rate.

Hellow guys,
I started work on lightmap generation today and its comeing on nicely. Its being done in DBC so you will be able to make lightmaps with in the editor (like in cshop).

WoW light map generation is a lot harder than I originally thought, lol. iv started the code over from scrach about 9 times, and now im finaly getting some where. still a bit left to do but not as complex as what iv currently done.

Still to do on lightmaps:

1. Edge fix.
2. Falloff rate based on normal direction as well.
3. A surfaces will only be affected if its faceing a light source and is in range(this will save up huge texture space on the lightmap image)
4. lightmaps will effect multiple objects.

Iv also decided to upload a small demo of what iv done so far , you can open the "light map setup.ini" and change some stuff around. the lightmap gets generated when u start the exe, and it loads up pretty quick for me .

The fact that you can make lightmaps is great, the fact that you can do it in DBC is even better.

I can't believe this a dbc app....
Very stylish and easy to use so far..
(cursor up/down movement in the preview window a bit fast tho)..

Getting 499+fps average on some scenes i've built...176 lowest on the bunker level with a radeon 8500 128mb, 768mb ram, athlonxp2400@2ghz

Keep up the great work and look forward to more features..

Steve
PS As your nick is evolved and your app will be changing (esecially as it's going DBP) why not call it project Evolution?

New light mapping demo to downlaod for ya to test .x objects.

screens:

http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/9451/snapshot4ur.jpg
http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/7118/snapshot28fu.jpg

it calculates the light map pretty dam quick considering how complex the chair object is and the resolution size . takes about 12s for me ... enjoy

demo--->

EDIT:

project Evolution is a great name I really really really do want to get working on the next version just for the hlsl shaders

Hay! , just a quick demo. Its got a few bugs that I`ll be filtering out very soon, light mapper is in but I still need to improve on it.

demo ..

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/xt/xt_apollo_download.php?i=762599

Still a hell of alot to do:

- Final name (u lot like the name of "project evolution" ?)
- Fix as many bugs as I can
- Lightmapper improvements
- Lighting system using db lights (for loaded .x objects / flashing lights .etc)
- Hot keys
- Help docs
- Importer(dbc/dbp)

@Lukas W
Im not planning on adding any action zones , this is been made in dbc so theres no physics support as such . but you can add your own entitys and load em up as u wish. im hopeing to make a direct import for both dbc and pro.

@ Evolved

Any idea if there will be limitations to the size of the imported .x files, have you tried loading files with a large polygon count?

Very nice work by the way.
