heh, you don't know what you've got till it's temporarily gone ^_^ hope it heals quickly and this little incident teaches you some valuable lesson, by the way what actually happened?

everyday of life is a new chapter that has already been fortold but is up to the soul to capture.

Hi there,
I'm new to the forums, been using DB for about a month now,
saw the competition and decided to enter then broke my wrist so I feel for ya... I really thought I should give up for a while there but it's amazing how much you can do with the left if you give it a chance... I'm going ahead with my project 'cos all things considered, better to be a slow coder than a bored injured person...

Tips for people who broke their favoured limb but still wish to code!!

1) Avoid activities which could damage the other arm...
2) Change mouse sensitivity in control panel:
lower if you go all over the place with your left, higher if you can't move far without pain - the body will learn!!
3) Do all your modeling first, cos it's easier to drag a vertex 'round slowly than to type like a maniac..
4) Stay almost insanely optimistic, like the little engine that could...
5) Where possible, use the brain rather than the hand, come to think of it that's serious advice...
6) Since I broke my wrist, my code has become more streamlined and elegant(relatively) because of item 5)
7) If you have a "special someone", get them to take dictation, it gives you a feeling of importance and domination whereas you should be feeling a bit stoopid and regretful... (oh yeah, and it may bring you closer together...)
8) Get them to do anything else that you can't be bothered doing...
9) Curse the fact that as humans, we are incapable of telekinesis...
10) Seriously, it gets frustrating, but you can overcome- I saw a kid on T.V with no arms who was absolutely amazing with his feet, you only have to get by for about 5 weeks or so...
11) Scoff at all sympathy, it makes you look like a man.
-sorry if this offends, just jokin'

I wouldn't be into programming if I hadn't broken my arm. The other thing which i'm interested in is skateboarding, and about 1 year ago I broke my arm doing just that. Both of the bones snapped clean, my arm was at a right angle, it hurt like hell! Anyway, I couldn't skateboard and it was painful to do anything that involved moving around so I remembered a disk on my ps2 that had yabasic on it, a programming language. I'd tried it once before but given it up cos it seemed too hard, but seeing as I had nothing else to do I tried it again.

It was bloody painful to use the joypad to type (I had no USB keyboard) but I still enjoyed it and do till this day. I didn't stop programming because I broke my arm, I started it so there! Don't give up if you don't want to.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum!
