Hey dudes, I been trying out a sweet piece of software that came free with 3D world Magazine this month (issue 74) http://www.3dworldmag.comif you are interested in it.
Its the full program, normal sold for $429.
The good thing is, it can model low poly landscapes textures, foilage (plants trees etc) you can add your own objects too, it supports exports of .3ds. And is easy to use once you know the gui(if you get it with the magazine theres a starter tutorial in there) And you can open the scene (once exported) in your own program with little or no problems (I found the trees did export, and I had to track the textures down, which took 3 minutes for all of them) plus it has its own nice little renderer if you just wanna make flash stuff.

This is what the editor looks like

This is the scene loaded into C4D (with tweaking to the scene)

only 12000 tris (some of the scene is hidden buts thats good )

holy crizzap.... free!? Thats awesome!

What you need my sooooon, is a holiday in cambodia!!! Where people dress in black! - Dead Kennedys

Dont question my reasoning for that. If you don't understand why I put that there your mind powers obviously need some time on the bo flex.

Its a magazine for 3D modellers/animators, they're quite worldwide, and sometimes companies donate free stuff to them, and this month its world builder, I think the last free version of a program was real flow (water program) but usually everymonth you get $400 worth of stuff on there, like models, textures, tutorials. And magazine cost £6 (in the UK, it is more expensive in certain places because of shipping, there is offensive material in the magazine, like Mental Roy who is someone who has his own articles and sheds his opinions onto the community)

If anyone is interested, the requirements for the program is
2.3 ghz
512mb ram
(says bugger all on the card)
but it appears to work fine on my PC which is
1.5ghz
256mb ram
and a 5 year old 64mb graphics card that is almost knackered
then again I have only been using wireframe mode in it and rendering to image

no problem dude, if you can't find the animator, bugger, there are plenty out of there, if you know the name, then you can search it on google.com and you should find it If not, if you can spare £130(approx) you can buy HASH: Animation master, its really good, I haven't got it, but its got very good animation, modelling and rendering tools, and for a program that good, its pretty cheap, I've watched most of the videos in the data base and they're kewl

Thanks.

Edit: magazine is Computer Arts. You should check it out... its mainly 2D only though gives you a lot of inspiration tho .

My mum occasionally buys Computer Arts, it is pretty good, I've been on their forum a couple of times, but I tend to stay on the 3Dworld forums. Actually we buy the three magazines they do (Computer Arts, 3Dworld and Mac Format)as we get free software, like this program here, Bryce(Mac Format) and other stuff

I don't think it can do indoor stuff, as it is a landscape maker primarily.
