Hey guys,

Which of these 2 programs is easier to use, and which one do you prefer using, and why?

I would really like to know.

Milkshape is better for a begiiner but AFAIK they're both able to make quality model...Canvas has a bit of advance(toolwise)on MS if you ask me,especially when it comes to higher polygon modeling...Remember Milkshape was designed for game models while 3dcanvas is more versatile.

I prefer milkshape to low poly model

I prefer 3dcanvas to texture wrap

I prefer milkshape for the JT export option

I prefer 3dcanvas to do animations.

I rely on 3dcanvas as one of the only programs to reopen an X file.

So would you say between the 2 programs, you can make a simple low poly 3D model and texture it rather easily?

I heard MS is coming out with a new version, but it will cost 140 dollars US, instead of the current 20 clams.

I would use milkshape and lithium unwrapper for modelling and skining 3d tools if on a budget.

wow mete never said $140!

I assumed it would be the same price or at least double but not 7 times the amount of the new one.

that price is too high...Whichever're the additional functions....Put in 50-100 more and you get a much higher quality product, just have a look around.

if you knew what was going into it $140 doesn't sound like a bad price ... i know alot of people are going to be "ohh i don't know about $140"

but quite frankly i can see him making those sales up in budget development houses, 3D Studio Max features at the fraction of the cost + free updates until v3

i think a trial version is set for late this year, but it certainly will be something talked about - i can guarentee you

You can import .x in milkshape as well, just open up DirectX Mesh Tools and click the little open button then it will work

I prefer MILKSHAPE!!

Yes you can make any part of your object transparent. You can texture 1 model with two textures. Just use the same texture in a spot and it becomes transparent. Thats with milkshape.
