I am new to darkBASIC and the game programming industry, I am not though new to the programing trade. I have graduated third in my class for programming. What i want to do is take my 2 loves, programing and game play and create my own RPG and a FPS. So I am looking for a mentor. Anyone up for it. Please email me at vernonpenney@shaw.ca and hoping to hear from somone.

Thanks for your time

Prophet, it sounds to me like youv'e got it made, you have the hardest part done, and the reward from it is sitting inside your head, now comes the easy part, like x1b said, Codebase will be useful for you, Read the Manual (Tutorials, Examples, ETC...) Hang out in open source threads and learn from the code there, if you are an experienced programmer, all you need to do is learn the language, you don't need to learn to program again. Sounds to me like you don't need a mentor, you need a starting point, and now you have several, good luck! We look forward to seeing GREAT things from you.

You LOVE harry Potter. Admit it.

Prophet, Give it a week and you'l realise you dont need a mentor at all. DBP is very user friendly and this forum holds all the treasures you need.

Good luck, and welcome to the crazyhouse.

YES YOU DO

Admit it and then we can all move on, as better people.

Prophet - For an FPS (If you have DBPro) check out Ruccus FPS tutorial and then Zotoasters AI tutorial. Ruccus tut is stickied - Zotoasters isnt (but should be) - under simple A.I turorial.

They will get you well on the way - they have with me
