I'm actually an independent game programmer in all forms of BASIC. DarkBasic Pro, VB 2005, Blitz 3D (which is Blitz's best language, BlitzMax is best for 2D, tho). From my personal opinion, Blitz 3D seems to be Blitz's version of DarkBasic Pro as far as feature set, and they both can manage the same types of programs. If it were my choosing, I'd go 3D on that one, only because it'll give you more room to grow when it comes to developing the best types of games available.
