Ok I could use some help here. I'm trying to create different textures and buildings and what not for my game (as are we all)
I'm using 3d worl studio to do so. is there a special plug in <insert retard joke here>
Are the two programs even compatable? How do I get the stuff from World Studio to FPS?

Thanks for the help guys

Well, first, you need to convert it to .X to get it to FPSC, then make an .FPE file, and lastly, put it in the proper folder.
Theres a tutorial on thi somewhere.

.3DS models are not in anyway compatible with FPSC, and probably, for a long time, or forever, won't be. However, as I saide above, you can always convert the models.

When FPSC develops enough, lets make a Redwall game!

But probably you cannot use lightmapping. Unless the lightmap could be apply through shadders.

I believe they are. but then again you can convert most anything these days. I wish someone would give me a step for step way to take a map from either geoscape3d or 3d world studio and place them in to FPSC.

Sorry to sound a bit sceptic, but do you have screenshots of your results? I've seen many people make claims about landscapes in fpsc, but no one could really show a good working one.

Can you actually walk on the hills or are they just backgrounds. I'm really curious, perhaps you'd like to show screenshots or even share some of your hills with us to try? If it's working well I'd like to start using 3DWS also.

Is there a reason the landscape is pitch black on my bright LCD monitor?

It's not pitch black it is a dark green. Not sure why it is turning up black on your bright LCD (mine is bright as well)

Are you using the lights in 3DWS or FPSC light's? Have you also tried entity's to walk on it. Iv created terrain in 3DWS before and entity's just fall through it athlough I can walk on it fine.

ok here is a stripped down map with hills in it. There are no enemies, just a few segments and some lights. enjoy.

I'm currently figuring out the collision thing for enemies.

hills in the game

This works amazingly well, I'm impressed. Would it possible to give me (and others) a simple hill(s) to play with in FPSC also?

Could you also perhaps explain how you get from 3DWS to FPSC? Is it really easy to do?

That's pretty cool. Only problem was I could climb the steepist hill, but I guess that could be sorted.

Is it easy to import into FPSC, I do have MagicFPS actually, so I guess that'd be the easist way!

Thanks for this RF.

Another question though! Importing terrain is one thing, but how do you actually import a complete building, or do you need some nifty texture work?

I just saw the screen shots on the world builder web site and couldn't figure out how FPSC could handle that.

How do you import into FPSC?

Thanks again!

I heard somewhere that it can have handle multiple textures. (let me research that).
Right now I am working on a hill pack. I have two hills sized to two different heights. so I guess there is 4 hills. I am just testing some collision stuff at the moment.

i have 3d world studio, and when you export the building as an x file, inside the x file it has different texture names in which to load.

ok so what are you saying then? I don't understand what your trying to say. I can not figure out how to get enemies to walk on the terrain (doesn't seem to make much sense considering I can place and enemy on a table) I will keep working at it though.
