I noticed recently that quite a few DBP games, especially those using BSPs get a nasty tearing effect if the camera is moving fairly fast. Can anyone explain

a) What causes this?
b) Are there any ways of fixing it?

Depends, if you are using windows XP and the program is not in exclusive video mode then XP will ignore the sync command and update the screen whenever it wants to.

FPS don't mean a thing, if you can't make a game that runs at 60 fps then you don't need to make one.

DVD and movie films run at just under 30 fps and they look great.

All graphic intense applications should use exclusive mode, that way it will only sync when you tell it to, which avoids the tearing.

Just my 2 cents.

My current game only Z-moves the camera so it isn't really noticeable, but thanx for that
