I tried a few editors and was pleased with this one for the price. I was able to make a very acceptable map within a few hours. The problem I have is there are so many different kinds of exports, I dont know what does what and which is the best to use. I cant even try out different exports. Plus, you can export the enviroment into a .env file that contains water and sun information, but I cant figure out out to implement this into DBPro.

Just wondering if anyone else was using it and if they had anything to say.

Thanks.

Im not completely familiar with map making but i believe dbpro can import .x and everyonce and a while it can import .3ds

Or if that can save as a BSP that works too i believe.

Im afraid tho that the .env isn't gonna work in dbpro.

No problem,

The best export to use is the X one that renders a supertexture. Darkbasic classic will read the created X file in very quickly, however darkbasic pro loads it MUCH faster if you use a converter to convert the .X to a .dbo (theres one lying around this forum)

DBPro itself is a .x to .dbo converter... save object command.

I apologize, I forgot about this thread, think I was drinkin that night.

Anyways, I do love the T.ED program its very easy to use and very affordable. But like I said above there are about 8 different exportations you can use:

3d Mesh Export (.x .b3d(for blizt3d)) - easy to understand, gives you the .x file and a color .bmp file

Heightmap 8 bit greyscale with base as zero - what I currently use

Heightmap 24 bit logical RGB with base as zero - didnt work for me the exported heightmap was blue and black.

Alphamaps - Im just learning how to use these, nice effects

Colormaps - havent used this one yet

Dynamic Terrain Kit (Heightmaps and super textures for 'Dynamic LOD' Terrains) - Tried this, but it exported multiple heightmaps and supertextures based on map size and quads, dont know how to implement this into DBPro (Yet)

Enviroment (Fog, Sky & water parameters) - Dont know how to implement this into DBPro. It exports a .env file that shows some water, sky and fog text.

Like I said, so far I can create some nice landscapes with little effort and get them into my DBPro programs, but I was just looking for more info on the different types of exports and if anyone has used them successfully. Trying to see what works the best.

side note: I am a search freak on these forums, any time I go after an effect or how to, I search for it. The biggest thing I found on .x vs adv terrains was that the adv terrains gives you object control commands over the terrain and its easier on the computer than using the .x terrain. If you know different, please post so. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies!!
