Since we are all waiting for the save/load feature, I was thinking about building a game where the first level would have entrances to the next levels, sort of a hall, let's say with doors to levels 1 - 10.

You would need to enter a code found at the end of the preceeding level (on a sign or something) to enter the next level.

This way you would not have to go back to level one every time you die. You would just need to enter the code for the level at it's entrance.

Of course this all depends on the ability to capture keys in the game. Is it possible? Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I think you might have to have seperate scripts for each door but even then to compact 10 levels into a 40x40x20 box is not good idea, especially since FPSC renders every polygon from here to Mars.

Good idea but i think it would only work on a mini game.

P.S: You'd be a bit screwed if you forgot the code to your favourite level. I suppose the first level wouldn't have a code...?

Each level would be seperate. The door would only open to access a zone to take you to the correct level for that code.

Yes the first level would not require a code.

This much I think can be done. I just dnn't know about capturing the keystrokes.

Unfortunately, that isn't possible. Each level can only have one winzone and it has to go to a particular level. Sorry.

Gameplay in FPSC currently is linear only in sequential order of level numbers - trying to achieve anything else would be asking for major problems.

Again as I have said previously regarding other issues - this one concerning directional movement through game levels has been asked for to be considered for improvement in a variety of helpful ways which I need not detail here. This I can say as I asked for consideration to this end when beta testing and it remains in a long list of requests.

Again TGC are aware of the point or issue as they are to almost all others you can think of.

Unfortunately perhaps, though I cannot comment on TGC thinking as I am unaware of it - but as a general comment or assessment there a vast array of requests that users have made that will probably never see their way into FPSC. Perhaps I am wrong but I just dont see it happening not at least unless something radical happens and FPSC slowly or miraculously overnite becomes a best seller and then perhaps anythings possible.

Just my opinion and probably severely flawed.

Sorry I am not sure if Riker9 has anything to add to the level movement issue.
