Hello, Im thinking about making a small animation using Darkbasic and lightwave.

Is it possible to import 3d models from lightwave 8 in to darkbasic pro?

Is the texturing of the model done in lightwave of darkbasic pro.

Is it possible to animate a 3D model (imported from lightwave) in darkbasic pro? e.g. making them walk?(any recommended tuts)?

Can a animation in DBP be exported as a movie clip? if so what formats?

Thanks.

Yes if you use the .x or .dbo file formats, or even .mdl

Yes texturing applied should be applied when in DBPro, as long as the image is with the model. Shaders/shading properties however aren't

Yes it is, don't know any tuts, not a lightwave user, but know of DBP games that have had used Lightwave

Don't think so, I would doubt it, but you can buy fraps(not too expensive) which will record on demand.

If you want to save to movie, wouldn't it be more easier and efficient to make the animation in lightwave and export, or are you doing this as a programming challenge for yourself

Just to add.

- UVmapping is done in lw.

-I havent used Lightwave since 5.6, don't know what plugins are available out there. If you export from Modeler, these will be static objects. If you want animated objects like walking, etc. You will need to rig, animate and export from layout.
