Hello. I gave up on BSP because of all the problems, but I'm having a hard time with collision detection in my maps when I use the DBO format. I have tried the code in this post http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=45212&b=6 and downloaded the media for it and when I run it all I can do is look around with the mouse buttons. It won't let me move forward, backward, or strafe. The only alteration I've made to that code was to remove the code for the west wall problem. I'm using DBP with the 5.9 upgrade. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I had the exact same problem, using the same code dude, I'm afraid I never figured out what was wrong, all I did was convert the level to .x, it seems that the only completely stable format for DBP at the moment (other than bsp)

I've recently been trying the DBO format and yeah, looks like once again I kind've need to scratch the idea.
BSP was fine, the only thing I had a problem with was the lack of any real good BSP levels because of the BSP compiler not being very flexible.
The most time consuming part of any of my projects always has to do with level design, so not finding a format that works is very frustrating... I don't want to have to create an entire level programatically.
.x kindve disappoints me the same way DBO does as far as collision goes. Im able to move through alot of walls and such.
I guess I'll just need to try to find other things to work on for the moment in my project.
The waiting is the hardest part...

Sweet example. And it works!

Now I have a few questions regarding it.
1) Where is that NGCollison dll from that they use in the example?
2) Would I be able to use this DLL in a commercial project?

This would be my first time using a dll for collision, so sorry if the ?'s are stupid

Sorry about the double post.
I plugged my DBO map into the example above and I fell through the floor the whole time
My map was created in DeleD with the DBO exporter.
Im confused.

It's an include DBA file, no DLL.
It's not for commercial use, it's the Demo.

You must start a "playerstart" entity, witch you can't make it work without 3D World Studio.

That's my code (the original link http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=45212&b=6). I can tell you that since you are using version 5.9 the collision is as broken as broken can be! My code functions under previous versions and if Lee Bamber indeed stomps the collision bugs as he promised he will in the bug forum, then my code will work once again in version 6.0. So if you want to use my code you're going to need to drop back to one of the earlier versions of DBPro or wait for 6.0. Sorry to say that, but I'm in the same boat myself.

Thanks everyone

I've also been researching using ODE commands for the collisions. So far no luck.

Try newton, thats a good dll, most people seem to use it, I personally haven't yet used it, but looks pretty easy, you'll have to look for it on TGC (I think its in dll talk, just do a search) because I don't think the newton website has the DBP support version of the dll

The Newton examples are very cool!
However, the examples where they load the dbo objects crash at the line where they load them.
All of the other examples had to work except the dbo ones lol.

It's just my luck.
