anyway, progress until the demo:

new menu
gun recoil
zombie die animation
remove lvl 2
remake lvl 3
finish lvl 4
attack with flashlight
teh long lost mp3 songs

i might finish it by the end of the day

edit,
currently the game is 95 mb in size, that is around 50mb zipped. :/

level 1 is now completed.
level 2 is implemented in level 1

starting on the new level 2 tomorrow.

pretty much all i have though of is implemented in the game engine:
flames, bulletholes, lightmapping, tiame implementation, player controls, collision, zombie animations, weapon animations, pick up items, explosive barrels, breakable entities, and more.

maybe if im lucky i will get a new demo out on sunday.

Quote: "the shotgun and hands look better but i think that the shotgun could use some better texturing."

thanks. yep the texture i use now is the picture i drawed so i know how to model the mesh. i haven't started on the texture yet

Quote: "lukas, I need to practice texturing, send me your zombie model..."

sure, when i get home i can send you the mesh and the .psd file i have. i created a psd file for me to easily change color on the skin/cloth/hair etc. im so clever. and i guess it will be useful to you if you just want to change something. ill also add the original UV mapped texture for you to play with. (i'll be home in 8 hours)

edit,
i looked at the filesize of the game again yesterday. its 80mb unpacked. and around 45mb packed in winrar. i may have to split it up or something :/ what is the maximum filesize you guys would spend time on downloading a game made by a cool and handsom person like me?
i know i wouldn't go above 20mb :/ it will be a pain uploading this

ahh, I remember this model from the FPSC boards....

how do you want it, I was thinking maybe a bit sad/dead looking with a nice white pigment with a touch of either green or blue to give the face a nice undead look...

i would like 3 textures if that is allright?

2 zombie textures
1 zs police texture.

zombie textures:
* sad/dead looking with a nice white pigment with a touch of either green or blue to give the face a nice undead look...
* and an angry one. but still i like your idea.

police texture:
* they are actualy ZS (zombie slayers) sent in to kill all living dead.
* they wear gas mask or whatever it's called. so they wont breath the toxic air that turn people into dead.
* i was hoping to make them look like the police in half life 2, but i failed big time.

oh and just a random comment; many people think that Norway is the capital of sweden, and not actually a country of it's own in europe. that's um.. funny in a way.

I looked at that zombie you did Heckno, and it looks good. The only thing I can say is make it have dark wrinkles etc to make it look more zombie like, and take out the eyebrows - and add scars and wounds with maggots coming out of them

I can tell you that I didn't know what the capital of sweden was, but I knew that norway was a country, not a city.

yes, norway is to the left of sweden.
i live 1 hour with car from Oslo, in a small town or rather large town but small compared to Oslo, called Drammen. if i still had google earth i could send my lat's and long's .^^

the face looks very good so far, but.
if you tone down the skin color, and maybe try to make the face muscles somewhat relaxed, so his eyes will look tired, aswell as his mouth will hang down a little.

that would probably be cool.

i was working on a sewer level yesterday. i made the ground floor of the level, and just started to create walls.

does anyone know if it is possible in DBC to hide limbs that are.. say.. 3000units away from the camera? that would save speed

that look so sweet!

edit,
i have created a simple website just for fun. http://zombiehunter.lukasw.com it took me about 2 hours, so it's nothing much at all. it's just a index file that reads from external .txt files

ok this is getting really boring. i am in the process of making level 2 but i have no skills so it take ages, and it doesn't look good .

edit, forget that question .^^ i decided to keep the old sewer level. it look pretty awesome with fog turned off.
i just need to see if i can hide limbs from an object if they are too far away from the camera or behind the camera so the fps gets a bit higher.

so i got another question: anyone up to model me a city level?
if anyone is interested, i would prefer someone with experience.
if noone answers within this week (and i am finished with what i'm going to do next), i will start with it myself.

(the city level will not be part of the demo that is coming, it will be in the next demo)

i have these things to do until the demo:
* experiment with limb hiding
* fix something i forgot on level 1
* put entities in sewer level
* improve zombie AI a tiny bit
* have a break, go to work
* add new character
* give new character some basic AI
* make level 3 a bit larger
* place entities in level 3

should be 3 days of work if i work hard.

edit,
level 2 is finished for now.

that look pretty cool.

i do hope you didn't make any modifications to the model itself (re-modelliing it) because if that is the case then i have to re-animate it however if it is unmodified and 1 mesh, then i need the .max file or a 3ds file (with uv map) so i can split it up into limbs.

----

guys,
i talked to JonnyRee and The Nerd, they both want to have the game converted to dbpro.

cons for converting it to dbpro:
* not a dbc game
* failed to create my last dbc game
* not runable on older machines
* larger filesize (currently 43mb zipped)
* have to re-write TIAME for dbpro support

pros for converting it to dbpro:
* direct x 9
* shaders (bump map, specular, per pixel light, shadows)
* physics (newton)
* more stable engine
* higher fps rates
* more functions (lamps affected by physics cast lights in the direction the light is facing, so if shot, the light rotates with the lamp, ragdolls, if i can: vertex manipulation to shoot the zombies into pieces, using newton: break arms and bones so they are infunctional and just hanging there while zombie walk around etc. etc.)

so what do you guys think of this? dbc or dbpro?

Well, unless you're trying to proove your skills by making an uber game in dbc, or like me have had difficulty converting games to it, I'd say switch. But If you really want to make yourself good with graphics and optimization, stick with dbc.

ok cool. i will use Joh's model along with JonnyRee's model in the dbpro version.

the last dbc game demo is coming along nicely.
not much left to do now.

* just some basic features that needs to be added,
* i need to finish level 3
* figure out something to improve frame rate (lightmap off seems to do that)
* figure out how to reset zombie variables, because it is buggy, and uses alot of memory when switching between levels. (eg. i got 14fps with 10zombies and 11k polygons, then on the next level i got 11fps with 4k polygons and 1 zombie :/ according to the debugging it is going through 21 zombie arrays, when it should be only 1) [edit, this was on a laptop with integrated intel gfx card and a P4 cpu]

i tink i will just place some entities in the level, then make an exit and call it finished. im too bored to work on this any more.

hey,

i had some people over so i didn't get much time to sit in front of the computer this weekend. i won't have time today either.

however i did manage to do something, and all that is left now is:

* make new enemy (texture, animations, AI)
* finish level 3 (some house models, lightmap it, place entities)
* add lights and lenseflares

again, i hope to finish this by the end of this week.

ok it's passed 1 week now, things appeared that i didn't know of, eg a concert i had to play to earn some cash :/ noone showed up and we got drunk instead that was on a wednesday. then i had driving practise at 7in the morning then work. so i didn't have much power left, and much more happened.

so today and yesterday i worked on the game, and i still have 1 bug left to fix. i'm also waiting for the new level to be finished. when i get it, i will implement it in the game and place entities.

after that the game is done. and i will do something else. probably convert it to dbpro.

while i am waiting for the level, i will try to add a few more stuff that originally wasn't intended. (some was but i was too lazy to code them).

on my list is:
upgrade zombie ai*
upgrade zombie slayer ai*
add a console
add footstep sounds from player
maybe add some more weapons

*find holes in walls instead of just walking in to it and wait for something to happen

i've written a simple console at work, it looks like this:

not the prettiest one, but it get's the job done

ok this game is rather finished.
i'm still waiting for the last level to arrive, and when it does, it will not be long until it's in the game.

i will post a new thread later this week when the game is done, because this thread is rather old now. and i dont think people are actually reading this. but ahwell.

ps. this final release is the last release in DBC. i will then start on the DBPro version. but not yet, i have to do some work on POPR aswell, because it's been 1 year now and still almost no progress, Gil is ready, i'm almost ready, and we have made up plans and are working on a world editor.

i have decided that Zombie Hunter will not be open source.
instead i will release the game engine that zombie hunter uses.
i call it "Z-Engine". it will be open source, and will be the same as the game, except there will be no media with it. just the engine along with a few examples.

so, later.

Lukas do you need a mp5?

The problem is that you
must set the Transparent flag to 0 (set object gun,1,1,0)
if not the gun will be messed up.

Edit: This is my first gun
