Its RAM then, you need more.

On the box, it says 512mb minimum and really you need 1gb to cope with large outdoor levels.

It might also be your video or graphics card, post that.

It's the game engine. I get only 10-20 fps on my map which is NOT an outdoor game and it uses a really small amount of entities. The engine FPSC uses seems to draw objects from behind walls sometimes. I made an empty room with no entities and put 4 trees outside it. My fps went to 12 even though there was no holes or windows in that room.

I bet your map doesn't have a whole lot in it. though it may be huge it may not be complex. I want to see your map. I could learn from it.

Also this can be a good lesson for everyone the fastest way to get a better FPS rate.

Anything that is static should have physics turned off, also use dynamics sparingly, they are there to accent the level and not dominate it, trust me you follow these rules your FPS rate will encrease!

But your game play will decrease... It is lose lose, FPS or GP, FPS or GP?

Also, don't rely on doors to block polys, they wont... or not by much, make turns, make levels, put walls up here and there to MAXIMIZE poly blocking.

As a note... I don't belive Physics ever TRUELY turns off, for an example, put up that wall med... turn physics off. Take out that bazooka... What happens to the wall med? It happens with other things that are dynamic too... they some how get physics turned on, then react.

RF, the best way to make an OutDoors game, is to section it up. Use excessive trees in one area (covering a wall) so in the end run, you really have an indoors game out doors... Fog will help, but I don't think the engine really would work with outdoors that much anyways.

I'm getting 25-33fps. It can easily be achieved even with large scenes.

Perhaps we can do a test? I'd love to know what kind of fps everyone is getting with my demo http://files.filefront.com/landscapedemozip/;4901240;;/fileinfo.html

If we all try the same game, it would give the best results. Press TAB in the game to see the fps. Please do post it here with specs.

I'm getting 26-33fps on an AMD Athlon 2Ghz, 1Gb Ram, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256Mb, WinXP Home.

In my experience, a lot of it is video adapter. I recently took a machine home just to play with FPSC at night. I immediately noticed that the levels I made at work which were running at 32FPS consistantly, only ran at 15-17 at home.

Both machines run a Gig of RAM, but my home machine uses onboard 64MB video. I installed a Radeon 9250, 128MB video card in the AGP upgrade slot and all the levels ran at 32FPS again.
