For those who haven't seen my development diary in the "Programming Talk" forum, its the CCA Media Player. I rendered a box for the product cause I'm that bored.

not sure i like the plugs on the case perhaps if the front was in focus and it faded off using a bluur rather than some stristic effect that doesnt look that good,

also the scene needs work as the floor looks like its covered in a layer of water and bricks look a bit too perfect and they look kinda aliased.

Halowed are the ori.

Personally for a image of the box I would just have the box on a white background with a shadow (if you program supports make the ground only render shadows). I agree that the plugs should be more in focus, and also the text on the box is kinda hard to read.

i think it looks good just a little aliased as DC said. I think you should put it in a layer of water, as all the good advertisements show there product being soaked in gallons of lushious earth blood. Plus people would be all "dude that kids program is under water!". I would like to see that.

Ooh thats a very good point. The main rule of advertising is if it doesn't look good as it is, it either needs to be put in space or underwater. And sometimes a combination of the two.

A good example of this example is the sequal to jumanji: zathura. They couldnt' think of a good sequel so they just took the original movie and put it in space! Presto! a sequel!

I didn't really spend any time on the background, just something to show the box against. I tried all the filters in studio max, but it even the cleanest ones came out aliased, I don't know why.
Here's just the texture for the box model.

And here's a newer version. Try not to focus too much on the background this time.

Hmm I have an advice to you - try to bevel the edges of the box , they are too sharp right now ....
