Hi All,

Just laying down the gauntlett for myself - tonight I intend to write a full retro competition entry, in just one evening I plan to create the game Splat! from the Spectrum

I'll be posting here throughout the night as it develops.

Map fully designed and viewing function written so I can move about it. Cigarette break time then animate and add main character.

Hadn't reinstalled Max since I reinstalled Windows the other day so that didn't work, I used a DarkMatter model instead and character now moves about and is fully animated. A quick bit of collision detections and then time for the splats....

I've fixed the darkness of the character, made the screen shrink over time, made the camera pan about as it pleases. (The idea of the game is to stay onscreen) and lost my ground texture.... um, the last bit wasn't planned.

Andy,
Jsut played the old spectrum version and you had to eat plants that were placed around the map. I`ll model something for you and E-Mail it over, I`ve also got a six legged robot leg thing that would be closer to the original for the player

Dark Basic Pro drove me to drink, I really should E-mail them to say thanks.

Can now pickup some splats and that expands your screen again (the shrinking screen is a feature i've added over the original)

Yeah I always thought they where cabbages, I never did really get why - Nick if you're going to model something, I need to get 100 onscreen ok - extreme low poly, like 2 poly would be great! I guess I could stretch to 10.

I've not done a level 2 or 3. I've written a quick little game in a few hours! This isn't the usual highly polished Banshee game - it's actually quite, well er - **** really

Splat! was my favourite spectrum game of all time!

It was such a relief to finish a level and hear 'Yipeeee'. I was literally sweating to death after finishing some of the later levels (they go REALLY fast). That's what made the game so addictive. There was no enemies, other than water and spikes, nothing to shoot. All you had to do was survive.

Looking forward to a demo!
