I installed DBPro from CD about 3 months ago and it has been working fine. I formatted my harddrive and re-installed windows and now when I try to install DBPro it keeps saying "please insert the DarkBasic Proffesional CD".

It says that after I click the "Install" option in the main menu and it will not let me install it.

Has anyone encountered this issue, if so what did it take to fix it?

thanx in advance

Are you using a copy of DBP? XP Pro can recognise copies as being copies and not origionals, while XP home cannot.

I didn't encounter this problem with DBPro but I have had a problem similar to this before. Your computer may not be able to recognise the disk if it is dirty. Even if a small part of it is dirty it MAY cause your computer not to be able to recognise it. It shouldn't cause any damage to try cleaning off your disk. They had instructions at the site

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B230438

You might need to copy and paste that into your browser if it doesn't create a link.

It is not a copy, it is the original sent to me from DB. I cleaned the CD, and I cleaned my CD-Rom to, ans still does not work.

I do believe it is a problem with the CD not being able to read it's own serial number.

I am at a loss as what to do, I hope Rich can help or someone else at DB that can help.

I appreciate your help guys, thank you much.
