its really starting to occupy space in my retro game.
and with a limit of 10Mb, you cant really have 256k files floating about!! [img][/img]

You don't need both. I only use a BMP.

i don't remember having to use Bitmap with DDS

try

'load image "dsurface.dds",1' then texture object with it.

A DDS and a BMP are both images - DDS is just native DirectX images I believe.

i heard that you can use TGA and PNG formats with dx models but i haven't tried it. why does your model need both DDS and BMP? Did you make the object yourself?

thanks all!
the problem is that when you only have the dds present the object does not get textured. i havent tried just the bmp.

i'm lost... do you just want the object to use the DDS as standard? because you have to use an exporter which does this - not alot of them do though and you have to end up importing it yourself with the 'load image' function
