the worst in the world. deled lite to model, then i use lithunwrap to uv,then i use paint(hah) to make the textures, and then deep exploration to render. i use a variety of bad programs. and i got them all for free so ben is happy.

nice start to modelling

Quote: " the worst in the world. deled lite to model,"

Deled is really aimed at level design and not 3D modelling, and is pretty great at doing its job, I would be careful what you say, one of the deled dudes is a forum member.

If you want more model friendly free stuff try this combination;
Wings 3D or Anim8or to model
Lithunwrap to unwrap
The Gimp to texture
Deled for levels/lightmapping
As for animation, I don't know any free animators other than blender (which is difficult app to get started with in comparrison to other apps

Seppuku - I use character fx for animating, actually,i could animate models before i could model them.also, the worst in the world thing was more from the view points of an object modeler. it is probably one of the best for level designing. and for you quoth, i'll get them in about a minute.

edit:
heres the hk-416 wire render

Seppuku - I just read what i typed,i was referring to the proggies in generla. together they are not so great

With some good textures they could turn out great! After all its the textures that make the model.....

well there not a bad start however you should really start using cylinders and things especially for the gun cylinders, and work on fixing all the poly overlaps/normal errors, your HK-416 is a good example of this as you can see some polys are stretched over where there supposed to be, best way to fix this is to select them and hit delete and start again.

also you should consider working on optimizing the meshes as they look like lots of boxes which wastes alot of polys, also since these guns are for fpsc i would work on making the ironsights more detailed as thats the part you will see all the time so it should be most detailed, and no skin will make it look decent ingame, best to get the mesh perfect before you start on the skin.

actually, about each gun only uses oh say four boxes, just with a little extra vertices that are stretched out. i will use the cylyinders as you sugested though, cuz i do think the gun barrel on the HK-416 is really ugly.

No offence, but you should really fix up that texture, it looks like it was dipped in toxic waste. Scale the texture down.

thankyou anyhow, heres another model i made.it was a try at a new way to do my models, using poly-lines instead of deforming boxes like crazy.i think it looks better than a lot of my other models cuz i could go into more detail easier.here it is,its an fn49:

this is one of the three belgium fn weapons i will be modeling.i am modeling the fn p90, the fn scar, and (already modeled) fn 49.

are you sure you worded that right?

ok about the guns, good that youve used a cylinder for the barel i guess, but to advance further than just box extrusion methods look for some tutorials on modelling guns, as if you look at pictures of the fn scar you will find that it infact doesnt look like a solid rectangle from the top, not sure whats up with the glock pic looks like the texture isnt being rendered very well, and its allways best to skin things from scratch , cause i dislike photoskins.

Kewl, is character FX free? I've had nothing but trouble when rigging my models in C4D, one moment I can get it to work great on a simple object, the problems happen with complex objects, it gets annoying

Deled is quite good for level design, although I prefer how CShop and 3D world studio, because of the interface as well as the features, with deled I think interface could be improve for speed, however its pretty sweet considering its free

i got the fn p90 modeled with little hassle. i will be making it better soon. heres the render:

darkcoder- it wasn supposed to look like a rectangle that was the thing i made from poly-lines. everything before was made from deformed boxes.

Wow, these models are really good, especially if they're your first! I guess the texture is a bit 90's, they could be a bit higher resolution. But so far, very nice work!

well its better than nothing i guess, would be better if you looked at some reference images of the p90 and then textured it, looks pretty made up right now.

meh, whatever,i just gave the p90 a new texture, its more metallic looking, has no pointless details(aka the scratches on the wood looking one) and it is detailed off of a real pic. tell me what you think and what i can add to it:

Ahh, i was just about to complain about the blue marks. Thats looking much better, although i don't understand what in the model is creating those ugly lines. Can we see a wire of this model?

Also, now that you are getting better, you need to make the guns less like carboard cutouts and more like actual guns. Some parts need to have more width than other parts. Especially the barrel, which from the views you've shown appears to be just as wide as the rest of the gun. Not to mention it being square. Try adding actual extrusions from the main body of the gun out, to make it seem more 3d. Also, there is a gap between the top of the handhold and the stock of the gun that needs to be fixed.

im guessing he used boolean and thats why he has those ugly lines in his topolgy. never use boolean kid delete the faces and model the hole.

no your not stupid. boolean in 3d modelling is where you use and object to combine objects together or to take away a piece of geometry. its hard for me to explain but its simple once you know it.

like here.

if you take two objects like so:

using boolean you can subtract geometry like so:

sorry i suck at explaining but this is the best i could do. also im assuming since you didnt know what it was you didnt use it

EDIT: also this method isnt recommended cause it can cause the lines such as the ones in you model.

God modelled man in his own reference image.

the lines were caused by the lighting in the render-er showing all the lines made from the vertexes. i changed the lighting and they dont show up,so now i will take better renders.

Those are some decent models. However if I were you I'd try maybe to make some parts of them seem a little(or a lot) less squar-ish. A good thing to use for this is bevel, because meshsmooth tends to add way to many polys/tris, and it makes everything sometimes too round. Just a tip.
