I believe when you get done making the waypoints you place the NPC on the waypoint and make sure his main script is people\pace.Your NPC should follow the waypoints.I am not an expert on this so I could be wrong.Lizblizz is right.Read the manual for more info.Use the search function at the bottom of the page and look for waypoints.I am sure it's been covered before.
There are others who are wiser and know more about this than me.

Yes, just set the entity's AIMAIN to people/pace.fpi or people/follow.fpi and place it on top of a waypoint. Not really sure why you'd want a ambulatory crate, but you can now. Odds are this has come up before, but since I'm a newcomer I can't point you to a specific thread, and saying "Search for it!" is practically useless.

Changing the connotation of "noob," one post at a time.

Put the aimain on pace.fpi and not follow.fpi.

pace.fpi= folllow waypoint until you are seen and then will call on shoot script.
follow.fpi= follow way point until you are seen and then it will........you guessed it follow the way point and nothign more.
