FPSC Classic Models and Media / What do you need (i just need to know what to make, freeware ofcourse)?

I dont know what next freeware thing to release to community (tool for fpsc, pack of models,or something else..), so please help me and tell me what you could use.


p.s. Dont worry, FPSC utillity pack is under constant construcion, but it takes MUCH more time than i thought it would, and sence it`ll be freeware, it certanly isnt my day job.

Monster would be pretty difficult to model.

hmmm let me toss this out as an idea....

there are many different model convertors out there for different models. how about a unified program that can convert any model not just 3ds or max or iwo but across the board then also with this you may wanna consider a realtime window for the model and allow for model manipulation and texture manipulation....

then this program should also be able to scale the model and also drop it and all files pertaining to the model into the correct directories and also make your fpe file for you..

also with the option to zip the model up as a pack so when someone decides to share there work they dont have to worry about file structure when they are zipping the model because the program will do it for them....

Anyways its a thought about a program vs a pack... I prefer the program then I can make the packs

I know my idea on this program sounds so much like PolyTrans probably because it almost is with the exception of a few extra features I mentioned here that there program is lacking.

oh oh sorry for the double post but this is a seperate idea,

How about a character skinner.... Wouldnt it be nice to be able to go to sites like polycount and use there skins on the fpsc character models

hmmm Let me see do I have another idea before I end this post....tick..tick..tick nope sorry tanks dry at the moment but if I hit an idea ill throw it out there for you all.

Sorry guys I may be making a mistake went to polycount to checkout a halflife skin and it came with the mdl file for the halflife model along with its bmp counterpart so this may also fall under the post I previously posted.... Sorry if I got peoples hopes up....

About your first idea : Very complicated, especially to make it so that it can convert every familliar format to x (writting fpe script isnt a bit of a problem), for that i would need to know the formats structure, discuss with the format owner about rights of use (some formats have specific licenses), it would take 2-3 months for that only, then scaling and texturing isnt that much of a trouble, every other thing is doable, but it would really drain me, i wouldnt be able to give it away free, so i will have to reject the idea, sorry, but i could make a simpler version of it with maby 4 formats support (3ds,md2, and i know a couple other witch`s structure is very simple, so it wouldnt be too much trouble)


Anyways, i`m very happy with requests guys, and please do add some more, it is not trouble to listen to them

I havent tried Bullshocks Character Creater and now wish I have before I spoken ill give his a try and if I like it ofcourse dish out extreme positive feedback on it... Certianly something I need is a character skinner...

Dodic... I know its a hard task and totally draining only thing Ive seen close to this is polytrans and its pretty expensive as far as software goes but not that bad to use....

But like any suggestion you just dont know what will happen untill you toss your idea out there

Okay for something simplier...been thinking about this for hmmm 10 mins now... this community could fly bigtime if there was tutorials that covered anything and everything.... you know a tutorial library for the fpsc users..

This could be something for the guys who have the knowledge to be able to pass it to the guys who dont know whats going on without cluttering the forums with how do you do this or can someone make this for me we can always point them to a video tutorial...

Okay yet another thought from the wise old goat ontop of the hill....bahahaha im rambling here now...

I need an x to 3ds Dodic, not for stealing, but so I can make stairs, doors, and the likes. I dont know the right units for 3d max, so id need to import a converted x file to check it out.

what id like to see are entities like that in condemned. crazy homeless people, or typipcal street hoodlums. thats the type of enemy i want in the game i am creating. im fed up of all the soldiers and sci-fi stuff. that doesnt interest me. u cant make a decent war game in FPSC due to lack of terrain, so why give us the models?? heh.

Sorry, but using gmax for your own games is as-in FORBIDDEN.

And then there are pictures of Flight Simulator 2002,Renegade, and some other, and it is DROPPED, as in NOT OFFERED ANY MORE software, though you CAN download it from turbosquid, but i dont think it is for adding contect to YOUR GAMES.

For that, they want you to BUY 3DS MAX witch is several $ ,000 , so i suggest working in miskshape (cheap, and great), anim8or (free, and simple, but works great).

But please post a thread for it, becouse otherwise here will start discussion with MANY people that dissagree with me, but i wondered that for a LONG time, and investigated, posted on VARIOUS 3d modeling forums (eaven turbosquids), and that is what i heard, and belive in.

edit : And a statement from Turbosquid section where is info on gmax
"Do you want to customize the vehicles in your favorite game? Would you rather have a custom phaser instead of the stock rifle that came with your game?"

I dont think that says : Game developers, use this software for your games, and get reach with this state-of-art free modelling tool.
