Alright, I've made enough progress to make an official post about this. The pack will be completed by this weekend (I have 5-6 more objects to texture and add). The first release will be for general use (.X and .3DS formats); following that will be the FPSCreator version (with automatic installer); and finally the Torque release. The general use pack will come with the UV Maps, everyone else will be able to get the UV Maps as a separate download (to save on file size). The 1024x1024 textures will also be available as a separate download (each pack contains the textures in 512x512 resolution) for all. The price will be set at $8.95 (U.S.)...sorry I can't give this one away .

*Note* I've put a few new close-group shots at the bottom. In-Game shots are at the end of the thread.

The Pack is now ready to buy; here's the link: Ozark Games WWII Pack #1 for FPSC

Unless free means I get a nice big check, then I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pass. Gotta pay the bills somehow, and spending all my time making free stuff just aint gonna cut it I'm afraid. We'll see how this goes.

Umm....it's $9.95....that's less than $10. There's no way I'd charge $20 for a content pack, unless it included everything you needed to make a whole game or something.

LOL...no, the only way you'd see me charging more than $10 for a pack is if it was a pack of well modeled/textured weapons, that came with all the animations, and installed with no effort on the customers part; or something like that. I know Indy developers have to watch their funds (believe me); I'm trying to give people some quality work for less.

Actually my partner has done some good animations with weapons (I gave him a placeholder to work with); we just haven't had much time lately. He used my sword model as a melee weapon (there's a short video in one of my old posts somewhere), with an animation and damage to the enemy. This pack has taken me forever due to all the other things in life. I've learned a bit in making it though (such as staying organized with my files). I've got another (smaller) generic pack in mind after this one; then I've gotta get back into 2D graphics for our first official game (a puzzle game) we're trying to get out by next winter.

I've gotta finish the Model of the Month as well (it's a bit bigger than the Guard Shack).

not quite sure you do scifi stuff, but i would not hesitate to buy any scifi pack for fpsc. I would love to get a hold of misc scifi items, entitys and textures, and i would pay alot too.

anyway, great job!

I've thought of doing a Sci-Fi Pack actually, Tim. I'll have to run through a list of things that don't mimick what TGC already has. Thanks for the compliments everybody, all I have left to texture is the German Shipping Crate, the German Ammo Crate/Case, and the German/American Oil Barrels. I'll have a full poly/vert list on our site when this goes live as well. I've deliberately left some empty spaces on a few of the containers (such as the Generic Crate, and the Large Cargo Crate) so you can put your own labels on them.

Honestly, that stuff shouldn't sell for more than 3 dollars. They're only boxes with texture.

@Black Terror. Wow, that was a sharp change from your first comment. All of the Medium Crates are a bit more detailed than a box (12 polys), they are 108 polys. Even most of the ones included in FPSCreator are more than 12 polys. Texturing takes most of the work, so calling them "only boxes with textures" is kind of a slap in the face. Not to mention the time it takes to make them FPSC-ready (things like scaling to the proper size, making sure properties are correct, etc.), and put them in an installer that requires zero work on your part (aside from pushing the install buttons).

So I'm going to have to disagree with your assertion. But thanks for taking the time to comment

As Iam not a texture artist, I find it hard to get my models looking good. So if any one wants to say boxes arent worth $3, ill be happy to stuff feces down your ungrateful throat.

Some good texture work Keith. The boxes remind me of a maze book. Some thing like cat and mouses day out. There was a maze made out of boxes, like yours.

KeithC. Great work here man! once again great job, just wondering, how do you create UV maps?

@Higgins. LOL, I wouldn't go as far as the feces; but thanks for the comment on the textures. It's funny you should mention the maze thing; I put several of those Cargo Crates (the biggest one) together in a scene, and it was kind of like a maze (until I found one of the enemy).

@Snowfall. Thanks for the praise. I use Ultimate Unwrap 3D; you can find a demo of it (as well as a few tutorials) here. The full price of it is $49.95; and I highly recommend it.

Looks like plenty of call for some sci-fi stuff as well. The beauty of making sci-fi stuff is that it generally doesn't exist, so I can get creative. Thanks for the post.

Yep; when I make up the official advertisement page on our site, I intend to make a side-by-side comparison shot of the render you see above with a similar set-up in FPSC. I will also be doing group shots for a close up view. Along with that will be an example of the UV Maps that will be available. The in-game shots will be using the 512x512 textures (so no surprises there). I don't want people thinking that they haven't got what they paid for. Thanks for the post, Habitar.

10 dollars for boxes... I'll give you 7 but 10 is too much for boxes in my opinion. =/

You should atleast add somthing like a forklift.

They are good for warehouses which is what I have, but I don't wan't to pay so much for parts of my ware house. I need more than boxes.

Black Terror, I'm not lowering the price. It's pretty obvious that you don't really know all that goes into putting something like this together. I appreciate anyone who thinks enough of my work to purchase it. A forklift model would be great; it would also cost more. I've been trying to bring some quality work, that is easy to install and easy to use. Most people don't make the UV maps available either, but I do. I'm afraid that's all I have to say to you about this. Again, thanks for your opinion.

Well, I'm trying to stick with the WWII theme on this one; perhaps I could do an urban setting pack later (with more than just "Boxes with Textures" ). It looks like Sci-Fi stuff is on everyone's wish list though. I'll have a final updated shot (on the top) tonight sometime, as the models are pretty much done. The general pack is going up for sale first, but the FPSC pack (with installer) will be ready shortly.

Alright; there's the final display shot. Like I said, it's coming out for the general audience first (turbosquid, etc.); the FPSC version should be done in a week. I will post an official announcement in another thread when that happens. Thanks everyone.

After a bit of thought, I dropped the price to $8.95, before it is put up for sale. It should be ready for FPSC by next week; the general use version is already up on TurboSquid and The3DStudio now.

I'm also going to ask people to list items (non-animated at the moment) that they would like to see in a sci-fi pack. It doesn't matter how long the list is.
