What is the license of it? Can models be used with other apps -DBP, NGC, etc- if one decides not to use FPSC?

EDIT: same question for model pack 1 and models included in the CD of FPSC ...

Well, I hope so since the models are very good ones to restrict they use to FPSC only ... I'll wait TGC's confirmation ...

Actually lighting plays a key role in how the models look. And that is up to the game developer ...

Also adding some shadders for normal mapping could help to make them look better ...

I think you can use the models royalty free in the game as long as you do not sell them by themselves as models or part of a model package but I'm not an expert so I could be wrong.

Yes you may sell them in your game but not in model packs as for free as for money but that sound logic, doens't is ?

I think that is the way the licenses for models usually go.I don't think it's an issue of money as much as it is the people who made the model want credit for making it.I can make the game and use their model because I made the game but I can't turn around and go "Hey,check out this model I made".

Well, yes, the questions were aimed to game-making process: say, a level made with 3DWS imported to DBP and collisions with NGC ...

So, TGC?

ok, one can expect that but it would be appropiate to have TGC's confirmation of the terms of use, don't you think?

Normally if you buy the media, you can use it for commercial purposes (i.e., making a game to sell) without giving credit to the author (that's kind of the point of paying for it); you cannot repackage the models/media into a pack to sell together or individually. I know my license allows any purchaser to use the media without paying royalties, or giving any credit whatsoever; it's the same with most of my free stuff as well. One stipulation that is common as well, is that you may not redistribute the models/media without permission. If you make your game available unpacked (meaning the models/media is easily accessable), then that is a breach of contract.

The official response is:

You can use our models so long as they are being used in a game / application. We do not restrict which language you use to make that game with (fpsc, dbpro, blitz, etc).

You CANNOT sell the models, either on their own, or as part of a library - or as part of a library for an application you've made (say for example you created a 3D modelling package, you could not include our models with it, they have to be used WITHIN the application itself).

Thanks Rich, that is the answer I was looking for and expecting.

As previously said, my intention is using them with DBO+NGC+3GWS for a FPS game ...
