Ive been messing with the Dark Basic Pro trial for a while and the 30 days are almost over.

Ive always been into programming games and I used to use C++, wich was a whole lot harder. I can do things in DBP in 50 lines that would have taken hundreds in C++.

Also, its extreemly hard to do 3D in C++ and in DBP, its simple.

I was just wondering if it was worth the $100.

So far I think it is but im asking others before I buy it.

Thanks in Advance.

If your a professional, don't waste your time.

(My two cents)

Heh, Im realy realy thinking hard about it and I want it a whole lot

Ive even made a couple little 2D games with trial version, nothing big though.

Also, I was wondering if you were allowed to sell your games made with the full version?

Because alot of Game Making tools have laws against Publishing your Games.

Yes you definitely are allowed. Not only that, DBP supports BSPs, which are map files that you can generate with things such as Quake and Half-Life level editors. There's no royalty to DarkBASIC Limited at all - except the money to buy the software! It's a very beautiful idea. Bamber is a genious

Took about 3 Days for me and i live in the states

And as far as paying for using formats such as BSP or MP3, that only depends on what you use to generate the files - some BSP editors say in their liscense agreements that you have to pay royalty to them should you use the levels in any commercial activity - I advise not using those ones Use the ones that don't require royalty.

Happy programming

Didn't I read some post where you can get it cheaper on Amazon.com?
Not sure, so don't quote me, but I think I read that.

I think it is really cool and you should buy it! Buy then sell or show your games. I think it better than C++ or C+.

DarkBasic Professional is worth $100 quite easily
it is an infinately powerful product which is going to be constantly improved until the next version (no doubt DarkBasic 2005 or DB .Net hehee - sorry bad joke)

for anyone professional or not, it is worth the cash ... i mean you can get DarkBasic Pro for $72 and you can get Visual C++ for $160 and to be honest, niether is a huge chunk of change for anyone with a job. Thats like 2weeks pay even on minimum wage
the true question is Are you serious enough about programming for DarkBasic Professional to be worth $100? ... if your not serious enough then it doesn't matter how much it costs really does it

Serious enough?
lol..

Ive been programming since GWBasic in DOS.
Around windows 95 is when I decided I wanted to be a game programmer.

Again since the fist language I learned was GWBasic, Dark Basic would be a great choice. Thats why im going to buy it ^_^

Thanks everybody for telling me about it

but there is a major problem buying from them right now, cause they've closed the shop for a few days.

There was an error with the site and they were selling Gameboy Advanced for £7 - lmao... god i wish i was shopping this morning

Dark basic is excellant. I think the fact it is simpler means more time can be spent perfecting gameplay etc

I suggest you buy it before Lee Bamber sees sense and ups the cost!

@Raven

I heard Amazon messed up earlier too.

The story i got was from Slashdot.org where they said Amazon put the HP IPAQ H1910 (RRP about £300) for sale for just over £7.32 (plus postage and packing).
It was difficult trying to get onto their site after i heard the news, i bet they were frantically checking their prices to make sure there's no more blunders

This is the item if anyone wants to see it:

NetBounty, I'm in Australia also but instead of buying it directly from Dark Basic, I'm going to get it for 50 Pounds from:

http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/reviews/info.php?code=JL2336

Converts to something like $130 AUD and I'm pretty sure they ship to Australia as well, correct me if I'm wrong though.

Hehe, I used to work for Special Reserve. Unlike Amazon they will ship to anywhere, just dont forget to add the non-members surcharge - um sorry, trial membership fee - to any purchase you make. It was only £1 surcharge on orders when I was there.

1 Pound is nothing compared to the 50 odd dollars saved from buying straight from Dark BASIC lol.
