So if your going to buy a PC just for FPSC, are you going to sell large games (like 50 dollars)?

I wouls build a computer. and this is the reason.

1)super easy to build
2)in most cases you can build it cheaper than you can buy a prepackaged machine
3)the joy of wondering did I hook this up right
4)if you didn't the awsome feeling of your left arm going numb and you developing a slight stutter.

I am a firm believer in building my own machines---everyone should try it. how much is that acer gonna cost?

I built my own pc. I keep adding to it, as some where down the line, a park packs up.

Only thing that will set you back, is the OS software. Dont bother getting XP Home, as ive heard its a load of crap, get XP Pro. It might cost you around £200 for the OEM Retailed one, but then you have it for life.

Also, get a mother board which can hold the newest processors, and over two gig of ram. Just having 512 mb wont do you any good. You need at least one gig for todays standards.

Iam being a narky 3d modeller. I dont think iam very happy. Comment my signature and raise my unhappy metre.

you do not need the newest processors. two gig of ram just for this program is a bit much, but then again if you go with a mid grade processor you can always flood your motherboard with ram to make up for the lack of processor power.

the only real difference between XP home and XP pro is that pro can network more than 10 computers

Acer Sucks: They won't let me customize, and personally, their laptops felt kinda flimsy. Other then that, I would trade in my Compaq anyday.

Talking about laptops, isn't the Aspire a laptop.

Thought so, seriously consitered buying an Acer... I think there were a few things that turned me down... can't remeber off my head.

So, everyone, he CAN't build a laptop.

Also Home is better, pro just loads more crap that you will never use.

im straight up with Reality on that.

Its IS cheaper and you will be more aware of your PCs setup and be more "intimiate" with it. Including installing your OS,your self, and tweaking it.

I firmly beleive that any hardcore coder, programmer, developer, builds his own PC with his development plans in mind.

This alone:
Quote: "Matching Keyboard, Mouse and Speakers
9 in 1 Card Reader
"

SCREAMS that you havent a clue what youre going to own and its limits and abillities.

In a very poor analogy,it is the diffence between just hoping on a horse and urging it go with no clue as to what to expect, its personallity and habits, traits, etc, and having raised one from a Foal and knowing it "intimately" and how to best work with it.

Small fish,I absoluetly implore you to build your PC or get guidance on how to build one AND study all of its components by RTFM and google research.

[EDIT]
Looks like I missed

Quote: "Dual-Core"

I heard that.
That's what my third owner built is going to be.
The one I am using has lasted five years so far.
The one before that lasted four years before it was obsolete.

I'm going with dual core technology and at least 4 gigs of ram next time.
I guess I'll go with that new Media Edition of Windows out of convenience.
No telling when that will be though, and until then I am stuck with this 1ghz crapola.
Unless of course I hit the lottery or sell 1000 add-ons, neither of which is likely to happen.
But as a wise man once said...
