Hello developers,

I am working on creating a HUD creator for FPSC. This program would contain about 20 "designs" (10 "corner" HUD's, 5 "top/bottom" HUD's, and 5 "full-screen" HUD's. 20 Different colors (including different shades of colors and other textures such as wood, metal, or cement). It would have 20 different 3D Textures to give it a 3D feel. Also it would have 4 different levels of transparency. If this even isn't all enough you can also costumize where you want text place, color of text, and size of text. Please tell me if you guys would be willing to pay for such a program and possibly how much.

Thanks a ton,
KimoSabi

Sounds interesting, but I wouldn't uy it, perhaps others would. I've got numerous gfx tools for creating huds if I need to.

I have never used a HUD and I don't exactly no what one is...

You should do somthing nice for the community and make it free, then let them pay 5 dollars for more colors, textures, locations, and levels of transparency.

People would be more likely to buy other programs that you make aswell.

@ KimoSabi,
i would only buy it if it had a custom installer that when you hit a button
it automaticaly put everything into the correct possition and then gave me
instuctions on what to do from there. i would need to know everything or
id be doomed. .

other than that it sounds like a great program. id pay a good $10 if it where decent.

good luck,
~SFS

I haven't tested my HUD yet because I am still waiting for FPS, but it doesn't seem hard to make them your self. I probably wuldn't buy it.

When you get ready to put it out if you have a demo or example of it and it is decent and reasonably priced I might be interested.

Of course it would be reasonably priced - there would be tons of tutorials explaining every factor there is to know, it would also self-install the HUD, and there would exact coordinates on where to put everything so it will show up correctly on your screen.
I will post screenshots as I get further with it, but I do have one flaw in my flawless plan so it may take a little longer than anticipated.
Thanks again for the input.

Thanks,

Kimo. this sounds pretty cool! i think a good price would be in the 5-10 $ range.
also, one idea is, is:

after the user picks out their colors/textures and layout of how they want it,
A window with a random FPSC screen shot pops up. then you let the user drag around
the HUD and when they hit "okay" then the program tells them the coords that they selected!
just an idea. can't wait for the screenys! keep it up.

That is EXACTLY what I had in mind - you also get to position the text inside of the HUD

Working hard,

Well this is too much of a screenshot but it'll give you a feel for the HUD's and a sneak peek at abilities. Please tell me what you think, perhaps improvements, etc.

[EDIT]
Remember it's saved as JPG so it doesn't look as good as it actually is

Looking nice KimoSabi! I hope you get this finished, because
custom HUDs actually make games seem much more original in my
opinion. E.g. If you have a WWII, a futuristic HUD does not suit,
but a simple army one would. It adds more polish to the games

[EDIT] Themed HUDs would be great, and add the ability to quickly
add the game logo/name instanly to the HUD. That would be great.[/EDIT]

The program will cost around 5$ and you can create commercial or non commercial HUD's with it.
thats what i think. its up to the developer though.

I'm at school right now, but this weekend I should be able to get about 50-60% complete with the project, I have everything planned out and drawn out on paper I just need to code it and implement the pictures onto my computer . If you have any other suggestions please tell, below are the current featres:

Colors and Textures for the HUD's
HUD templates
HUD "3D" textures
Custom placement of HUD
Coordinates of HUD
4 Different levels of transparency
In depth tutorial on how to install your HUD
.dds pictures so you don't have to convert anything
Puts your HUD into correct folder
Add your own custom logos
Customize placing of text, numbers, etc.

By the way, you WILL be able to add your own custom logos.

[EDIT]
Sorry, messed up a bit here... fixed!

Thanks,
KimoSabi

I've bin lookin for HUD's for awhile, but this just takes the cake! it sounds completely awesome, but I probably wouldn't pay for it. even if you dont get profit, you'll get credit from the FPS creator community. this, I feel is a real benchmark, but I don't think id give my money up on it. I just bought model pack #2, for cryin' out loud!(which i must say is great)
Hopin to see the finished thing soon.
Keep it up!

no, that is what FPSC automatically converts to.... some people might want to edit outside of your Hud Editor.

There is going to be optional output - though some formats don't allow for alpha channels.

Sorry for the delay guys, I bought BlueGUI on Friday but didn't get to download it until Monday . I have been busy at home but made good progress at school today, kinda confusing but I am making it as simple as possible, and even though I despise people with it I made it to fit 800x600.

Whatya think,

Looks good. But you may want to space it out more. Maybe even make it a step by step wizard with real time preview.

I think it looks good, I think it's going to look small on my 19" 1280x1024 desktop but I understand that it needs to be suitable for all.

It's nice to see ever more user-created tools for FPSC, in fact given that we are all (mostly) here to make games (not necessarily play games) I can see how tools such as this will probably be more popular (within the FPSC forums) than the games made using them .

Good luck, and looking forward to seeing the end result.

Cheers, Rich.

@K Jah

I Also thought about making a step-by-step type of thing but there is one problem, people may want to change it as they go... ALOT! And sure you can hit the "Back" button but that would get very annoying.

Thanks for the comments,
KimoSabi

Maybe you could make a wizard with a contents panel at the side,
so people can still click next/back, but they can also just select
what they want to edit from the contents panel.

Your programs looking good.

Apparently you don't look hard enough. There is a thread in the Models and Media forum called "Free stuff".A lot of people have donated time and resources to the FPSC community.Use the search function at the bottom of the page.Charging for stuff around here is usually the exception not the norm.If someone does charge for it they aren't trying to get rich. They are trying to defray some of the costs of making the app.
@KimoSabi,
If you don't want to finish that please upload what you have.Maybe some resourceful member can finish it.

I wish to finish it very much I just don't have a computer at the moment - it should be at my house by next week Monday - and trust me this program has NOT fallen flat on it's face I just can't work on it at the moment, ESPECIALLY since I was just getting familiar with BlueGUI (so I couldn't work on it at home).

I will post an update ASAP.
