i noticed that you cannot get any part of a set camera to image`s image to be transparent, also might help if the image that was grabbed didnt have to be square as if its something like the glow effect thats been done before as it wastes lots of space.

also it would be very usefull if it saved the alpha, as it would make some sort of a bilboarding system feasable. but i can keep dreaming?

Halowed are the ori.

This is really a feature request, and should not be posted to the Bug Forum for U6. A good idea, and I have a few ideas to make this work great, but my focus is ruthless at the moment

I think this would be really great feature, there's been talk about how to make portals in this thread, I had an idea of using set image colorkey to make an image made by set camera to image partially transparent. The image of what you see when you look in the portal is drawn right to the screen and you paste the 'normal' image over top of that. To prevent the normal image from completely overlapping the portal image, the portal object is made pure white with set object light. I just needed some way to turn that white to transparent and there would be a portal. Unfortunatly the set camera to image command doesn't use the image colorkey.

By reading this sentence you have given me brief control of your mind.

Yes, I'd vote for that feature too. I've several times wanted to use the alpha channel from an image rendered in a shader - but can't in DBP, if I recall correctly.

I find it weird that TGC have no problem shutting down a forum
post with in 2 months of not being used but I find others that have been
open since 30th Apr 2007 21:55

What do you mean? Why have you posted that question on this particular thread?

Can you show me a Bug Report that isn't still open?

I would not call it a bug report

I just find it weird that this one is still open
so i can post to it after all this time

but others I go to I would like to post to are shut off
so no more question can be asked

at this point to many to list
and I've forgotten so many

some one new after 2007 put some thought into locking down posts
when it would not hert any thing to just leave them open

Idea's take time to work out and some
can't be dun with in a 2 month time frame

it can be any ware from 5 months to 2 years
depending on the complexity and if other peaces have not
been created yet

May be - but I didn't ask for a list. Just one example will suffice.

I can't find any on the Bug Reports Board. Admittedly I haven't checked each individual post (and I don't expect you to either). As far as I know Bug Reports don't get locked.

That's not a post on the Bug Reports board.

Why not make a formal bug report on this board and include that link in your report?

I solved this problem in another thread:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=184514&b=1

You can take camera screenshots and convert them into regular images, and there is a shader version that is capable of being used to do it faster.

lol dreams do come true! (6 years later)

Edit:
There is a related bug where camera drawn images are locked, and I submitted that to the recent bugs short list here:
