Okay... digging around I found this app that was suppossed (spelling?) to help me make my puzzle game for that puzzle game compo... then again, I never submitted something and this editor went into the forgotten abyss. Searching around backup CDs I found it so here it is. I don't consider it =fully= finished, but I'm not going to work on it anymore and isn't a WIP either.

The interface is rather easy (screen-wise) as the keystrokes might confuse you a bit (you can change them editing the source). Also it comes with some free textures I found on the net and a sample level... thing xD.

The source code isn't commented very much (I don't use to comment my code very frequently, unless it's a BIG project) and there's a non-usable part of it (was working on it but then left the project) which is the Events thing... either way, the map editor's fully usable and I think some people can learn a thing or two out of it

Known bugs:

* If there's no more textures, the texture preview cube becomes blank (but throws no error, yay!)
* If you try to LOAD map/level #0, the editor will crash.

I made it for helping myself, but as I'm not going to use it for that puzzle game anymore, guess I'll share it with the DB community . However, I'll use it for any other games I might do in the future. If you want to use it in your project or game for making your levels/maps, I don't mind a bit. But if you're going to modify and include it as your game's map editor for the final user or something like that, I'll be glad if you send an email and put my name in your credits (DARKGuy).

That's all. Have fun!

LoL!

Dunno Silver... it's up to you what you want to make with it - as long as you follow the little disclaimer

Anyhow, has this been useful to anyone?

Say... no idea, been short on time so that's why I also released this - no time for keep working on it too. However the drag & drop thing you ask for isn't an easy thing, so that's also another reason why my editor moves with keyboard presses instead of using mouse for placing objets . However I *think* I can try to make a DBC version of this...

@ Dark Guy : Thanks a lot, i doesnt need to be drag and drop all that it needs to be able to do is let me choose the object i want and where to put it, then export the code as a dba file so i can use it later as a level.

Great editor! I am going to use it on my next game!
Only problem is how do you reload a map?

Also how do you load the saved map.dat into a dbp source?
Thanks

Games 2 Live: A windows theme downloaded from DeviantArt... I think it's called Azure

Darth Vader: That's why I included the source... check the Load_Map and NewTile functions!

Okay but ho do I load the map into a different .DBA file?
Thanks!

[EDIT]I also found that after I save a map it appears in the file, but when I try to load it, nothing happens!?[EDIT]

@Darth:

Make sure you have the level files in a folder named Levels and the textures in a folder named Textures (and named correctly) where the .DBA file is, then make sure you have the arrays Textures and Objects declared, and the MaxObjects global variable too. After that you'll just copy & paste the Load_Map and NewTile functions to your DBA and load the map with Load_Map just as it's shown in the "if inkey$()="l" " part. (Can't look at the source right now, but if I recall correctly, that's all you need)

Edit: In the editor, make sure you set the correct level # before loading! it loads correctly here, so o_o;;.... and also, I might make a small example for that soon if I get some free time
