On behalf of those of us who found the early demo impossible to use for their particular interest - and expired the 30 days without ever establishing anything useful about DB pro- surely a fresh 30 days of demo of what DB PRO should have been, could be supplied?

Yes ?? mmm ?

I believe the demo should be re-released for patch 4 surely, but i'd wonder what is now possible that wasn't before? What problem(s)? did you run into - it's likely that approaching the problem from a different angle is all that is required.

Outrageous epic cleric of EQ/Xev:-

I saw no simple work arounds to my problems.
In classic DB I use the free flight rotations for almost everything - from full flight simulation to a substitute xzy or yzx rotation ( note that z in the centre) , reading of angles by 'algorithm' , camera view handling in by far the simplest way, positioning of objects likewise , line of sight matrix intersection.. etc.
It is not even clear that patch 4 does fix the object relative 'flight' rotations, though Lee indicated earlier it would happen. The patch 4 descriptions refer to alignment of the camera during such rotations ... that may have been most of the problem, there was certainly some odd interaction between free flight and 'move'... one can only wait and see what others say... if any one else actually uses these rotations fully.

Apart from that were matrix/ object/ghosting bugs - and all the others that have filled this forum. Making me glad i did not try to make some sort of substitute code for free flight . ie. the camera did rotate correctly, and one could have used this as a hmm.. a dummy move/ rotate device, to which one could later align any particular object or action.
I don't think that would have been very sensible in light of all the other work arounds that might have been needed for other bugs.

Whatever.. I still look forward to finding out the possibilities of PRo. LOD terrains used 'en masse' with individual textures that are tiles of a larger landscape picture, ( as per satelite photos) could be one answer to detailed large landscapes -- though it might have been better if matrices had been converted to LOD. ( I think getting terrain from a grey scale image a bit imprecise and heavy on adding data to a download , i would prefer vertex height control by 'hand.')

And of course one wants to see this new speed promise realised.

we shall see. I hope. cheers . Muddle.

There will be no demo version of DBPro made with Patch4. A new build of the demo will be made available (with increased testing time) when Patch5 is released so that 3DS loading, etc, is back in again.

Cheers,

Rich

Dammit. So I gotta wait until patch 5 to see if I can actually have any luck transferring my stuff to DBPro. A couple of the bugfixes in Patch 4 sound like they'd do the trick. Guess I won't know for a while now.
