No hands is for the BETTER! Everyone might have diffrent characters for their games, so hands could cause problems.

I can't wait for some screenshots!

Trying not to be negative.

But if you charge for that gun you better hide.

It's a freebie at best, there's no way you should expect people to pay for an extruded polyline. There's practically no detail, and when you put it in game, it'll be like someone got a Jig Saw and cut out a toy gun from a piece of wood. It's literally 3 minutes work, 1 rusty penny is too much for 3 minutes work mate.

Develop your skills, then you can expect to make some money from them.

I would suggest keep making guns and uploading them for free, practice makes perfect, then when your skills are there all these people using your free guns will check out the models for sale too, it's how most freelancers start out.

I agree with VanB. It's the way I have been operating for a bit of time now. Learning how to model, UV map, and texture takes time. Learn the basics, and then move up. I have given away a good deal of media to the community, learning as I go. My philosophy has always been to give to the community you expect to do business with later on. When you begin to get good enough to sell your media, people can download your free stuff to see whether or not they want to buy anything from you.

Even when I start to sell things, I'll continue to make free media for the community(s); it will just be better than my previous work, as I develop my skills. Keep at it, it isn't an overnight venture.

ok i completly started over a now i think i have a very nice model. And im trying to get the new screen shot but my Milkshape keeps crashing on me. And i have a screen shot of the model on my other computer in 3ds max. So ill try to give it to you later.
(ohh and by the way before you ask why im using Milkshape instead of Max,, its because my trials ran out, and my cousin wont let me have his full verion)

For Milkshape, in the 3d view, right click and select "take screenshot" and save it somewhere. Then open it up in paint and click File>Save As and then select ".jpg" in the dropdown menu at the bottom and save it. It is better than pressing "print screen."

I dont think you did make make it. You probably bought it from turbosquid and added mesh smooth to it.

Here is the model on Turbosquid, look at the image of the mesh on both Blackburn's 'model', and the one in this link; then judge for yourself.

Glock17

I saw this model in the free section a few months ago, whoever the artist is, he/she is very talented. This type of thing is getting old, make your own stuff.

Note that both texture and mesh are identical to the turbosquid model, ergo, it isn't his model.

I guess some people must get a kick out of claiming other people's work for their own. Something tells me this guy isn't going to show his face around here again (at least not under the same username). Someone should lock this thread and ban this guy's backside.

Oh yeah. They're the same. In the turbosquid model, click on the white snapshot and then compare the polys to this guy's model. They're identical.

If he did make the Glock(and I'm not going to assume he did not)the transition between the first try and the second is well.. quite significant.
If people mis use other's models/meshes and textures they are not only cheating the original artist but also cheating themselves.
If anyone wants to learn make themselves a legit Glock then grab a copy of GameSpace Light from here http://www.caligari.com/gamespace/gsl/gsl.asp

and go here and join in the community project "Gun Kit(Glock) here http://forums.caligari.com/gamespace/index.php?

Well, Jim, unfortunately close comparison shows that the gun (which has been one of the top free models at Turbosquid for sometime now) has been taken from Turbosquid (both the model, un-altered, and the texture).

I don't like to see this kind of stuff going on, and I usually stay out of it; but this gives the legitimate artists a bad name, and that irks me.

Its not for me to point a finger and accuse anyone that is for the original artist (copyright holder)to do,I am only pointing the way for people to learn to make thier own stuff,if they can be bothered.

serious blackburn if your attempt at model is an extured shape with no dimesion thats a lot better start at modelling and will get you more respect than ripping a model from turbosquid

because at least you first attempt was an orginal idea

drop the crap about a modelling team

go away refine your modelling skills then come back and make all us who flamed you eat our words

and then you will be a highly respected user

the reason why am telling you this is because i hate flaming in all forms also i hate it when a user leaves that shows at least some potential instead of the users who just post give me free models all the time

now that is annoying

some of us learn the hard way and earn are flame proof jacket dont be down hearted and give it another go dude

peace out

blackburn, Dude whats wrong with you man? You come over to my dev forums and try and pass off ripped media as well? We were giving you the oportunity to further your skills. I'm not saying we are gods by any means but we are honest and honesty goes a long ways. Try for once to show a model that you have created. I know my modeling is not all that good (look at commodore64'ish) but I atleast did it myself. I have no respect for you man.
