Hello.
I've searched the threads for an answer to my question and so far everything I've seen/tried has not worked.

Here's the situation:
I created an insect model that has wings on it. I want to be able to see through the wings. So far the best result I've gotten are the wings to be see through like I want, but the rest of the model is not visible through the see through wings when the camera is at an angle where the wings are in front of the insect's body. Instead the background is being seen through them. So basically my question is why do I see the background through the wings instead of seeing the parts of the model that the wings are in front of?

I'm not that good with manipulating images, so maybe I messed up somewhere when I set up the texture for the wings. For this texture I tried using a tga file. To make it seem transparent all I did was set opacity to 50% in photoshop. Should I be doing more than just this? After all, the texture IS transparent, but im seeing background through it instead of a model.

So far the closest thing to working is this:
load object "DragonFly.x",6
set object transparency 6,value where value is numbers 1-6.

Other commands I've tried that don't work include:
set alpha mapping on 6,50
disable object zwrite 6
load image "b32bitB.tga",16,1

tried ghost object on?,

well the transparency commands should work and yes i have noticed sometimes you get slight errors with transparent models but i think thats a d3d error, try exporting the wings seperately and then using various commands.

Halowed are the ori.

I've heard about successes with parts of models being semi-transparent, like windows on a vehicle for example. I just don't see how it can be done other than like what you said Dark Coder, exporting the separate parts of the model and using limb commands etc..

Ghost object on works when I want the whole model to be semi-transparent. I thought about exporting the wings seperately, but it's going to take much longer to do the animations with the object. I was hoping it would'nt have to come down to that. But maybe it will.

Heckno,

Looks like this method you are using might be able to be applied to my problem.

This is how the transparency with the wings should look in the model:

This is my best result so far in DBPro. This shows how I see background through the wings instead of the rest of the model:
