Hi everybody, here I want to show you my W.I.P techdemo/minigame , call it \"WINGS\" , my idea it\'s a simple shot\'em up (fire & dodge), but I don\'t want to focus my efforts in the gameplay (my knowledge as programmer is very very limited), but in the visual aspect, I wanted to try normal maps and other stuff in DBP, so don\'t expect for a propper game, but here\'s some photos in a early process:

P.S: two textures (512x512), one for color, the other as normal map, ingame screenshots.

This probably belongs in 3d chat, not in WIP. You don't actually have any game progress to show us, just an effect.

Probably his router's fault. Anyway, nice models, but no actual gameplay, right? Belongs in 3dchat then

QuothTheRaven, this gonna be a one-stage minigame, so it's work in progress if you don't see this, then....

Did you paint your normal/bump maps with black and white tints, or with the purple, blue tints? looks nice

Try a grey scale version and then put it into MikeS's Normal map generator

Hi Lukas, my idea is create a mini-game (just one stage) , but fully playable, this is an excuse for test some graphic effects and others, my idea is create a small game but with high quality graphics, well see if I can manage...

There's no point in trying to hand make a normal map. How they work is the different color values (RGB, one more that I think is A for Alpha) are the different datas like x and z value and what not.

Why make sense when you could make brownies?

RGB = XYZ , this is how NORMAL MAPS they work, one color for one direction, also the alpha channel, but not always.

Hi again, this is my updates for now, I finished one part of the main title (2 items more to do), I did several test with this ring trying to get a good look in general (bump, reflections, etc...)
and this is the results (in DBP realtime):

CLOSE UP:

now I have to clean up a little bit everything, and then I can get a better performance in the future, and going on... see ya.

Looking quite awesome SamCam. I was thinking of making an application similar, but it was going to be an arena style hack n slash. Im going to work on a few more projects before I gain the skill to do such a thing to the quality I want it to be.

I cant wait to see a demo of this, I might have my computer in time to track this project as it goes.

This looks nice, however no gameplay yet(it's just some screens of models rendered in DbPro), so I wont comment further.

But can't you make normalmaps and bumpmaps with The GIMP?

klu 007 , this is a WIP project, so I consider this thread as a diary, trying to put my updates about what I'm doing at this moment, first I want to finish all the models I need for the game, then I will mix everything, but I think I can upload some standalones just to show you in realtime my updates, can somebody tell me how can I attach files in this forum?

Just use the attachment box above the "Post Message" button.

I think that should work.
