I am creating a game with a large landscape matrix, and I need to add a mountain to the scape. So I opened un Blender 3D adn ruffed up a flat plain into mountain shape. Saved that into a 3ds file and imported with a smooth "load object "mnt.3ds",mntin" command.
My trouble is that I need to texture this gray mass, but when I texure the bloody thing it... turns out wrong. IE it seems as though it converts the PNG (or my texture file) into a 1px by 1px image and slabs that on the mountain. I have tried several different commands and ways to fix this- none have prevaled...
Im confuzzled-
So please- help!! Suggestions, examples...
(could be blender 3d- anyone familiar help please. I also own a copy of 3ds Max 8, but am a 3d studio max noob...)

Thanks much!!

Isn't there a way to where you can get the object to automatically texture itself when you load it if the right textures are in the folder? I know when you load DarkMATTER material it does that for you. That's what I think may work.

Also, try using the commands scale texture, and DB commands that may make what you're looking for

Sounds like you haven't UV Mapped the mountain. I don't know how Blender does UV mapping. I use Lithunwrap.

Anyway this is 3D talk.

In blender I can texure the object toatally the way i want it- then i can render it and it looks great. so then I export it as a .3ds, load it in with DB, but it seems to strip the texure. I have tried all the commands and all combonation of commands that deal with texuring objects... to nothing.

I will look into Lithunwrap- can I import my 3ds into Lithun and UV map it? I have heard about about UV mapping but do not fully understand it, can you explian?

Thanks!!
