anyone recall Real3D?, I am trying to make a modeler that works like the old Real3D from the Amiga for my project (I just HATE vertex based modelers, I want a solids modeler ), I can make static models from manipulated memblock data and they render ok, I can do texture mapping (from a single bitmap) and lathe/extrude objects etc, but I am stuck on writing animated files, does anyone know of a good description of how animated files work, I don`t realy need em cos it will be used for scene modeling for my project, but it would be nice to add the feature, it`s just all the descriptions I can find are rather vague, I just need a fully commented example of a simple animated .x object and I should be away, cheers.

I don;t know the answer, however I've seen it done in DBP by Psycho Gary (remember him?) but unfortunately he didn't tell me how.

As a modeller to me, an animation appears to be;

An object (bones) hold the vertices and when the bones are rotated the vertices keep in position to the bone is was in before, how the hell you would code that sort of thing I don't know,

I'll try and get some images to explain it better
