First of all, I apologise if this is posted in the wrong section, I am just a bit unsure as to where to post it.

I am wondering how to go about having animated textures within an animation.

If anyone has played Animal Crossing or some other Nintendo type game, they dont really model the eyes but have a basic head shape with a texture on it and if you play the game etc you will notice the eyes blink and change to different emotions and stuff..

Can this be done in Maya?

I'm not sure about Maya, but it can be done in DBPro.

Check out my FireScript thing in the WIP board. Look at the control fire functions. Its the same 1 object plain made in DBPro without and animations attatched. All I did was increase a variable, and when that variable reaches a certain point, I textured the same object a differnt texture. So it looks like its animated, but its only different textures throughout the second.

Thanks mate,

So if i exported my model in .x and loaded within DBpro I could select the area (the faces I want to re texture) and well make it animate like your fire effect?

Yes, that would work. But selecting the faces might be hard. In maya you should make a group/limb out of the faces you would want to re texture and find that limb on the model in DBPro. Then you woulld texture the limb.. or the change the whole model texture with the certain body part texture different.
