hey
I am awful at modelling so don't say, "Why don't you just make it?"
Anyway, should I get T.ED to make my massive terrain for my rpg or should i try and find a .x model on the internet which is very big or should i get smaller ones and then use code so they load if the player gets near them???

What should i do?

O rly!?

@Digital Dragon:
It's really a great program, and it's easy to learn aswell. And it can not only create awesome terrains, you can also use it for the rest of your levels.

3DWS can export to .X, .3DS, and DarkBASIC's native 3d file format, .DBO. If you decide to go for t.Ed, you can still convert the file to .DBO. My Konvurd(look in sig), will load a X, 3DS or DBO model and can export to X.

Its really an opinion, it really depends on your usage, if the dude has level building sorted and just needs terrian, no point paying extra for tools you won't use, its like me buying TrueSpace for radiosity rendering (well I own trueSpace but its an example)

I found that in the T.ed editor the map was much higher res than when it was loaded into DBP. This however, might have been fixed by now, but I'm not sure. Download the demo of Ted, export the map, then check the resolution of the textures and such when your walking around. See if you notice a difference, I did.
