Can any one tell me how to get half-life 2 characters into gamespace or into the .X file format?

You probably never will.

Problem is that the Half Life models use a completely different animation system to X, so the best you could do is convert the mesh and reanimate - even then I'm not sute what converter would get the format into .3DS, for loading into Max or CharacterFX.

DBPro does support MDL etc, but compared to the .X support you might be struggling, MDL is not really a widely used format outside the mod community.

ontop of that, the MDL spec has been completely revamped for HL2, DBP uses the HL spec

I don't have a sig, live with it.

So how hard would it be to get the mesh out and into gamespace or 3ds max? I don't mind re animating, I just want to play with the models in DBP.

Usually there is an SDK that contains the models (normally in Max format) and tools, have you tried Googling for it?

I my self do not have 3ds max but my frend does and he said he would convert the files over for me if I find a way.

Nah, it won't load the HL2 models. I've tried pretty much everything already. : /

Why do you want to steal models from another game. I can't believe that the game creators encourage illegal activity by making DB PRo able to load in Quake maps etc.

Uncle sam calm down. He only wants some models to play around with, It's not as if he's going to make a blockbuster.

First you need to GFCScape to extract the MDL models out of the GCF files wich are located in : program files/steam/steam-apps/

after that you need a program called MDLDecompiler or something..google it.I managed to import HL2 models into max so its very possible. It was a couple of months ago so i dont remember all the tools needed.

p.s.
There may be a third tool that you need to succesfully import the models into max, but im not sure.I forgot what it was and whether you need it or not.Im srry.
Good luck
